Look at taxes this way: If you buy the tires for $155 each in Canada you'll pay taxes on $155. If you travel across the border and buy the Carlisle tires from WalMart for $67. Even if you do declare the purchase, you'll be paying taxes on less than 1/2 the amount of the Canadian purchase.... Remember, you also get to (should anyway) deduct the taxes paid in the US from the total "tax bill".... So either way, buying them and not declaring them at the border or buying them and being honest about it, both options are less than 1/2 the price of buying them them for $155 + taxes in Canada......
Seems to me, buying in Canada at $155 per tire is a total of $620 to pay taxes on while buying in the US at $67 per tire is $268 to pay taxes on..... Seems like a $300+ savings even paying the Canadian "import" taxes......

.
We used to live in Vancouver BC and made bi-weekly trips down to Bellingham WA to stock up on EVERYTHING. In the Bellis Fair parking lot 75% of the plates were from BC. The cash registers had two cash drawers, one for USD and one for CAD. They were set-up to convert the price either way.
It was well worth it to declare what we bought, the border tax collectors got to know us and that we always reported what we had bought. Most times they just waved us through with no payment for anything.
One time I remember I needed a alternator for my Olds Omega. Price in Canada $ 70, price in the US $29.
Bought the alternator, changed it in the parking lot, took the core back for the $5 and drove back North of 49.

Your math is correct other than I only need two tires, and I agree with your way of looking at it.
Maybe our second trip in the Spring will be to Spokane.
First trip will be here to Little Elbow Campground, 25 miles West of here.
