New tow toy

Was planning on going to Sam's Club yesterday for a few things after my youngest's Cross Country race. Wife mentioned that we should drive through the truck lot as they were having a sale. To be honest, I wasn't even thinking of really trading trucks. my '08 has been great, but we have talked about down sizing from the Passport 2920bh to something with rear living since the kids are either gone or leaving in a couple of years. Anyway i didn't figure they would have what I wanted:
3.92 rear axle, tow mirrors, rear sliding window, rear camera and that is about it. Was really looking for a Quad cab and 6'4 box, but that wasn't a deal breaker. They came back with this. Doesn't have tow mirrors, but it has a lot of features I don't need. Took it for a drive, came back and we were about $2,700 different in our numbers. We said good buy and went to lunch. 20 minutes later, I got a call saying they can do it for the number I wanted. Going through the paper work and they were getting me to the number I wanted by adding to the tax, title, and license fees as an "estimate" with additional down. Wife was "back up the train here". We agreed to this number plus TTL. NOT TTL and the extra to get to the number. Anyway long story short, they dropped the price another $700.00 to make the deal.

First thing to do besides ordering the required accessories is adjust the hitch for the Passport and see how she pulled. WOW pulls entirely different. 50hp, 60lbs torque and an 8 speed tranny makes a huge difference.

First order of business, tow mirrors, nerf bars, bug deflector and mud flaps. shortly after, tonneau cover, and bed mat. Still need to decide on rust protection. Either spry oil or undercoating.

So, went from 08 Ram 1500 (in rear making the transfer)

to this

Nice looking truck!! You absolutely want the tow mirrors. I pulled with my Ram like that with the small mirrors and there is no comparison to actual towing mirrors. Also, if you're looking for a bed cover I'm partial to the hard folding type. I use a BakFlip and REALLY like it. JMO.

I use these mirrors on my Ram. They work well.

already ordered a set of add on tow mirrors and they have already been delivered. Factory told mirrors is what I was really wanting but was hard to find on on a on a half ton in the setup that I wanted. Decided decided to go with the CIP snap on tow mirrors they seem to look the best and fit the best. I had Longview mirrors on my old RAM and they were actually quite good.

I will be getting a tonnoeu cover, but I think I want to stick with a soft Roll-Up as I now a 5' 7 bed instead of 6' 4.
