I'm old, but new to here...with a question

I had a 2001 Montana, a long time ago. At the time, I paid a guy t put a hitch on the back, so I could carry bikes, or whatever.
Now, I just purchased 2018 3130, that has a hitch in the back, from the factory! What the heck, finally a tool that can be used.

My question, what is the weight rating on the hitch ? I have a CDL, with endorsements for doubles ect. Is this hitch strong enough to pull my ATV trailer, or my patio boat, provided my truck is capable??????

How cool would that be....

Thanks for the help, and thanks to whoever created this forum....

Don't think we can answer that. Only the factory can tell you how well the receiver is attached. Contact them.

That's a great question for the Keystone. They have great customer service. If not maybe the dealer. Did it come from the factory that way or is it dealer installed? I'd check how its secured to the frame as the bumpers on these things are not rated for any substantial weight. That would be great if they actually started adding those with a reasonable weight rating.

BTW, Welcome from SE Texas.

Hitch

The hitch, is a 2 inch receiver type. Factory installed. I sent a message to Montana, but I have not heard back from them. It has only been a week, so maybe they are busy.

I will be a bit patient.

By the way, thanks for the welcome, from Caldwell Idaho

2 inch receiver type. Very interesting. It would imply, maybe falsely, a fairly heavy duty frame mounted capability. Please share Montana's reply.

I have a couple of questions. What is a CDL with endorsements ? I did not know that US jurisdictions allow for double trailers. Here in Alberta it is allowed but next door in BC it is not.

Hey, gordo, I was born and raised in Caldwell. Left in 1956 after high school. I still have family in Nampa, Meridian, Boise, and Twin Falls. I live in Virginia now thanks to the Army.

Welcome to the forum.

CDl, commercial Driver License.

Endorsed for doubles and triples.

Several states allow double trailers, with some restrictions. My concern, is that this type receiver is usually rated for quite a bit of weight. However, there may be fine print somewhere stating that it is only good for a load of "post holes".

Still waiting for reply from keystone

The 2018 Montana brochure states the rear 2" receiver has a 300 lb. capacity.

Dang, I thought I looked at the entire pile of paperwork, and did not see it.

300 pounds, I hope that is the tongue weight rating, otherwise, it is useless. The steel alone weighs a bunch. Thanks for the info. I'm going to call Keystone.
I just want a definite answer to go off of.
