Formula 1 in October

As a former amateur road racer I am excited to have booked a camping spot at lot N at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin Texas in October this year. I will be traveling from the SF Bay Area and I'm wondering if anyone here has camped in lot N and if so how was the line approaching the lot? In other words...how early do I need to arrive to secure a good camping spot? I would also be interested in hearing from anyone who has made that pull 1/2 way across the country at that time of year. Route preferences and all advice is welcome here.
Thanks in advance...
