Hartland Tires and New Wheels

Finally pulled the 5er out of storage and got some pics of the new Sendel T11BM wheels and Hartland 235/85R16 LRG tires. The last pic is an old one with the OE tires and wheels. Not sure which look I like better, but I know which load capacity I like better. Leaving tomorrow morning on a 2,000 mile trip, will report back on the experience.

Mid trip report with right around 1000 miles. The tires performed great so far. Temps ran up to 8-12 degrees above ambient temps, that was towing across AZ on blacktop in triple digits temps towing at 65-67 mph. The pressures rose the same amount which was 10-15% of cold pressure settings. So far I'm very impressed with these tires and glad I made the purchase. Looks like Discount Tire is giving us a good ST option at a much better price than some other brands.

I know the Heartland brand is manufactured exclusively for Discount Tire. I have not personally seen the brand and am wondering what plant builds them. Can someone post a serial number or plant code? Once a plant is known, one can check their certificates and other brands they build.

Congrats on the new tires/wheels. I've always had great luck with DT so hopefully if these tires are made exclusively for them they are going to be good tires. Glad they are giving you good service thus far.

As far as the looks, I hate to say it but I liked the OEM wheels better. On the other hand, if new setup gives you more capacity and peace of mind then that makes them look a whole lot better

Yeah, I liked the OE look better too, but the load capacity and psi rating wasn't there so that definitely makes these a whole lot more attractive.

The plant code is PP which is Shandong Guofeng Rubber and Plastic Co Ltd, Dawang Town, Guangrao China. So yes, like many tires these days they are made in China. I'm hoping Discount Tire has some oversight on them to make sure they are a good product since it's an exclusive Tire for them. Time will tell, but so far I like them. They are a very heavy tire with a nice solid sidewall, especially when compared to the OE Trailer Kings.

Just for grins you may want to keep a close eye on them. My Trailer Kings were made in Shandong province as well. Can't remember the plant and my post that had that information is long gone from the previous posts. Just an fyi.

Im watching them close as well as running my TST 507 system. The weight rating on them is way overkill for my 5er with a combined weight rating of over 16k lbs and having less than 12k weight on wheels. I know the yearly degradation of tires so the 3rd or 4th year will be more critical. I won't go beyond 4 years on tires

Feedback:

Shandong Guofeng Rubber Plastics Co.,Ltd was founded in 1994, and now has 2 subsidairies, covering products of Radial Tyres abd Bias Tyres, for Cars, light trucks, trailers, trucks, agricultural autos etc.

Certificates: ECE, DOT, CCC, ISO/TS16949, INMETRO, SNI...

The ISO/TS16949 is an ISO technical specification aimed at the development of a quality management system that provides for continual improvement, emphasizing defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste in the automotive industry supply chain.

("variation and waste in the automotive industry supply chain"). In other words, they are allowed to use about 25% recycled tire rubber in the production of new tires.

Hi all,

I am brand new to the forum. I bought a 3710FL Montana in June 2016. I had a blowout south of Atlanta on I75 a few of weeks ago running on the OE TrailerKings. There were two others that were about to blow when it happened. Luckily it was probably the only tire that could blow without causing anything more than cosmetic damage.

In my hast to get back on the road I replaced my tires with a new set of E load rated/L speed rated tires. I am currently considering an upgrade to G load rated tires. I too am a Discount Tire patron & am considering the Hartland ST Radial All Steel ST235/85R16 129M. Can you give an update on how yours are doing? Also, do I need to replace my OE wheels if I want to go to these tires?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Just for comparisons, I am out on the road driving south from KY to the gulf shores of MS. With the same Sendel wheel and the Sailuns, run 125 +/- 1 psi between the 4 tires at 70mph (110psi cold inflation). Temp is right around 100F with it being 90+ ambient. All 4 tires run very consistent with each other.
