2011 bullet 278RLS audio system

Looking at a used 2011 Bullet 278RLS that has no radio/CD player or TV installed.Wondering where i can find what the trailer came with and if a diagram exists showing the wiring diagram. Thanks

I would think that you wont find any of the replacement electronics for that year of trailer and if you can, they are probably not working. You could use a car radio that operates off 12vdc in the space with an adapter to fit the hole. It will probably be far better sound than what the original radio was.

As for the tv, you can get anything you like that will fit the space. Again, probably far better quality than what was originally installed. Good luck with your search and install.

As mentioned, going OEM is not necessary. Most trailers of that Era came with Jensen radios and were designed for RVs. ASA electronics is the parent company for Jensen. The major difference between a radio built for RVs vs cars are the following.

RV radios typically have 3 speaker zones, 2 for the interior and one for the outside.
RV radios often have havd a DVD player built in with an HDMI output to the TV.
RV radios often have inputs to play the TV sound thru such as a fiber optic, digital, or other connections that a car radio may not have.

As to wiring, you're on your own to identify the 12vdc source & polarity as well as speaker wires. No wiring diagram is available from Keystone.

Here is the OEM setup. Jensen stereo and TV. I would replace with something current from Walmart or similar.

Look at Crutchfield. Not a lot of RV specific options BUT like Marshall mentioned they do come with capabilities/inputs not available or car stereo receivers.

Is there a cutout for the radio? I am assuming there is so look at the size of the cutout so you can buy a unit that fits it; single DIN; double DIN with full cutout; double DIN with single cutout (top/bottom?). You can get them with the built in DVD. If you are going to buy the entire setup I would also look at a soundbar - FAR better sound than most TVs and eliminates the need of trying to replace what will assuredly be poor ceiling speakers (if there).

The picture posted IS the actual electronics set up in that camper. A soundbar would have to be screwed to the cabinet holding the radio.

What's the model number on your receiver? Maybe he could pull that up and determine a new model. Is yours a full cutout (if you've looked) or just 1/2 and if so is it the upper or lower half with the cutout?

That configuration certainly will limit how a sound bar is installed. OP might want to make sure the brand of TV has good sound as many don't.

That looks like a Jensen AWM975. They are discontinued. Jensen has parsed down the models available and no longer offer many of the models that they had pre-Covid.

There are a lot of RV stereos with player & bluetooth for sale on Amazon. Look at the dimensions and choose the features you like. I will say that if you get the cheapest TV you can find (such as a 32"), in many cases audio out for a sound bar may be unavailable. I use the speaker jack to put sound in my soundbar because I have a really cheap wally TV. Works OK but if doing it again, would look more closely at ins and out on the TV (and soundbar).

Yes, I figured they were discontinued and didn't have time to investigate which one it was. The unit you posted appears to be it. Looks like a fairly large cutout from the manual so OP will have to do some investigating or modifying.

They are Double Din so if the hole he has is the same size then there are literally hundreds of options to choose. Many single Din radios come with a double Din faceplate and adapter plate to mount.

The installation manual on the 975 showed a cutout of 9.3"W but it isn't made any longer. The newer model I pulled up (etrailer I believe?) had a cutout width of about 2" less. The heights weren't the same (or close) either. Enlarging the hole is one thing, trying to make adapters so it sits in it like OE is another (don't know OPs skill levels).

The versatility in models comes from the car models. There aren't many RV specific receivers with multiple speaker zones, integrated DVD players etc. Of course this is all assuming there are previous cutouts for the equipment wiredgeorge has. OPs original post said the trailer had none of the equipment "installed" so don't know if it was removed or never meant to be there.

Thanks

Thank you all for replies. My trailer has no unit included just the cutouts from the original. So gives will look for a unit and modify the opening if needed.

You might just consider an overlay plate to cover the existing hole and adapt to the new stereo system you install. There are several types available to cover almost any size existing hole, or you might just fabricate your own from a wood panel/board that is laying around your workshop.

Here's one that I found on Amazon for about $15: https://www.amazon.com/Metra-99-9999...00317GM56&th=1
