Pop out slide awnings.

Do we need to spend the extra $ to get awnings on 2 pop outs for our 2019 Cougar RKS? Does it come down to a ladder & broom vs awnings?
Thanks everyone.

In my opinion yes and no. It also keeps the sun off top of slide out in summer and snow off in the winter. Also keeps it dry(ER) in a rain storm

Some swear by slide awnings, some swear at slide awnings. Some use a ladder and broom, some use a leaf blower, some ignore the leaves on the slide roof and rely on the rubber slide wipers to push them off. Some have problems with leaves, some have problems with slide awnings, some ignore the problems and some don't....

Not an answer, because AFAIK, there is no "right or wrong" answer..... More a personal preference than a functional/operational decision.

Good luck weighing your feelings pro/con about whether to spend the money..... Some do, some don't......

Personally I wouldn’t.

Also check with keystone to make sure your rig has the substructure to mount them if you do get them. My 1st TT was a Springdale and it did NOT have the substructure and Keystone told me it would void my structure warranty if I did install them.

If you travel in very windy area's stay away from them (slide covers) or spend
the extra $$$ for a anti ballooning device for your slide outs.

2 years ago on the MH we had (had slide covers) I got caught in 40 MPH winds
on I-25 in Wyoming, ballooned the cover and broke the springs in the roller.

There I was in a rest stop up on a latter with a knife cutting $800 worth of material
off so I could continue my trip. Ouch!

On my new 5th wheel we do not have slide covers. I will just have to do the
clean up on my own.

Slide toppers should come with anti billowing device. Some techs are too lazy to put them on as it takes an extra 15 minutes. In a flat rate shop it can add up quickly.
