Travel with bunks up or down

We just bought a bunk house trailer. Dealer said to travel with bunks down. We were checking things over after our first weekend trip, and the top bunk was cracking, to the point of not being able to use it until it is repaired. The child that slept up there was only 95lbs. There's a sticker on it that says 300lbs Max. I was wondering if it cracked during the drive home? I'm worried it would pull out of the wall if it were in the up position. What do you all say?

Our dealer told us to always travel with bunks in the UP position!
