Ceiling Fan - Retreat Loft

In the living room, we have a ceiling fan. It's up so high you cannot feel any breeze from the fan. Has anyone installed an extender rod to drop down the fan? Is there ample wiring to fit into a 12" rod?

I would be worried more about the mounting and if hanging down would act as a lever going down the road. I just envision the side to side movement swinging the fan and it breaking.

Our original ceiling fan was close to useless plus it started squeaking on our first trip. I replaced it with an inexpensive ($68) fan from Lowe's. The replacement has a 5 blade fan plus it could have been bigger in diameter but I was afraid that the blades might hit the slides when retracted (should have, it wouldn't!) - and something that you need to consider if you install an extender.

The new fan - 3 speeds, reversible and has a nice light with a globe - and it creates a minor hurricane vs a puff

Thanks everyone. I forgot to mention that we are permanently parked in a campground, so no traveling.
