Same ole Inverter Delimma...which way did he go
Wanting to install a Renology 3000w pure sine inverter. My Cougar has the "Inverter Prep" loop, so no worries there. Question I have is there a better manufacturer of an Inverter model with AC pass through? Or perhaps a supplemental Automatic Transfer Switch that is industry acceptable and recommended?

Victron makes some quality products as does Go Power.

Before you invest too much money on any inverter, have you checked the ROMEX wiring in the "inverter loop" ???
On some trailers with the SolarFlex 200 system, the ROMEX is 14 gauge (rated 15 amps), on some the ROMEX is 12 gauge (rated 20 amps). A 2000 watt inverter will produce 16.66amps and a 3000 watt inverter will produce 25 amps.
In short, a 2000 watt inverter will "max out" 14 gauge ROMEX and a 3000 watt will max out 12 gauge. It requires 10 gauge ROMEX.
If you have the SolarFlex 400i then I believe both inverter loops have 12 gauge ROMEX, the inverter installed in loop 1 is a 2000 watt rated inverter.
I think (at least I hope) that Keystone fixed the ROMEX issue and installed 12 gauge wiring in all the inverter loops for 2024 models. But I haven't been able to "dig into the wiring" on a new model yet, so it may still be 14 gauge in some of the loops.....
You might be looking at installing an inverter that can put the factory ROMEX inverter loop in jeopardy.

2022 Springdale QBWE.
My inverter loop is yellow (12AWG, 20 amp).
I don't know if that will help you at all with your Cougar but maybe Keystone is consistent amongst different models?
Surrrrrre they are... LOL

Thanks guys. I have changed to a 2000w inverter with a go power transfer switch. I'll let you know how the final connection works out.

Chuckster, I can't recommend any go power equipment anymore, they used to be a high quality part when they were based out of Victoria, but since they have sold them to the US based owners the quality has taken a dive. Plus in 6 years I have gone through two of their 50amp ATS units, so I will be looking for a better brand that isn't 400Cdn to replace.
Victron is nice, but you need a second mortgage for it, I use renogy in all my new additions now and it has been solid for their inverters and solar controllers while coming in at a attractive price

Ive installed the xantrex freedom X...actually when i ordered it i got the XC (inverter charger) since it was much cheaper at that point in time.
Anyways everything I've bought from them has been good and the support has been responsive.
I have a 2000W which since my inverter loop (late 2022 bullet) was 14ga made for some interesting wiring/modification to protect the output wire to 15amp.
