Tires sitting for 9 months or so?

We purchased new tires last year after a blowout.

Carlisle Radial Trail HD

After our last camping trip in October they have sat unused. We're finally going camping next week.

They were on plastic pieces outside in our driveway. I did finally move them about ¼ turn a few weeks ago. I also had covers over them.

As this is a single axle trailer I am a little concerned that sitting for so long may not have been good.

To add to this the spare had a bird's nest on it for a long time, once the babies fledged I took it off, but I wonder if that may have damaged the spare.

Do you think a blowout is possible due to them sitting so long in one position?

Hi

To answer your question, No I don't believe sitting for a lengthy time will affect the tires.

My TT sits for 6 month per year not being moved. Been this way since I bought it in 2013.

I have never experienced any issues.

Keeping the tires inflated and covered is highly recommended.

Thanks. Yes they held their air well. They went through a NE Winter outside, but it wasn't a very cold one either.

I agree with Lee. I cover our Cougar in November and don't uncover it until May. Never had a tire problem.
The only other suggestion I have seen for prolonged storage is to use jack stands to lift the tires completely off the ground.

Yeah, I have always done that kind of timeframe, this just feels longer because we haven't used it yet this season - which is very late.

Jack stand idea is interesting.

Having had a flat once coming back from camping, realized that a single axle is a disadvantage in that situation. It seems to me from what I've seen online and on this forum, that changing a tire on a double axle trailer would be easier.

I had to pay for roadside service once on an interstate on a Sunday. Over $200 to put my spare on.

As long as the tires are setting on a well-drained surface I wouldn't worry.
