2nd A/C Height
My concern is adding a second A/c unit to the front of my camper might make me too tall. I've never measured my actual height. But spec page says 12' 7" and the second unit would make it 13' 7". Is the too much?

You can get a Low Profile unit for the 2nd AC which may help some.

We already have the unit I'm looking at installing. We have it from an old camper of ours. It measures around 12".

The National limit for height is established by the Interstate Commerce Commission is 13ft 6in. Take due notice and make your own decision.

The height of 12'7" includes the height of the first air conditioner. Is your new one 12" taller than your other one installed? If so that's a big air conditioner. If not I think you should be fine. I would measure your actual height thought as I am not convinced the factory stated number are solid.

I wouldn't trust their measurements. first of all the rear unit sits lower to the ground than the front one would. I would clime up there and, with help, measure it myself. Not much room for guesstimating there.

I measured ours by placing a 2x4 across the highest point(front ac on ours) with the unit hooked up and sitting level just the way it would be towed. I think front ac is usually the highest point. Ours measured almost exactly what the fact said.

front A/C
When I got my unit I had a second A/C installed. And took a paint extension pole and checked it out. 12' 7" yea I know it's hard to believe that the book was right. LOL and just so you know. And I asked it here first there is a law that the gas stations canopy is 14' Happy Trails

For what it's worth, our Laredo height is exactly as manuf specs/info stated.
13' 7" would likely be taller than even most toyhaulers.

I'll have to get up there and measure. My a/c unit I'm wanting to install up there is 12" tall. Hopefully where that vent is for the 2nd a/c unit won't sit at the highest point.

I when hunting for a side view picture of our camper. Looks like I'll be ok. The vent in front of the a/c is where it'd would be installed. So it shouldn't sit higher or much higher than the other one.

Just to add to rclarks comment about the 2x4. I did the same but also used a level on the roof then did the same on the 2x4. This gave me a reading of 12' 10" to the ground. Still well below most bridges.
Watch Gas stations though. A few years back I was pulling into a gas station east of Sacramento CA on I80. I heard my ham radio antenna which is on the cab of my truck (It's quite high - HF model) make a banging noise and stopped immediately. Roof was about 11' 6". About a full foot shorter than my trailer. This was not a very strong structure, so I would have most likely brought it down.
If you do find a low bridge ...don't try what this Semi driver did.
Cheers Bill
