New Member - Passport Elite 23RB

My wife and I just bought a new, 2018 Passport Elite 23RB last July. We hail from Louisiana, near New Orleans. We've gone on two trips so far, the longest to Chattanooga, TN, where we had a great time.

I am about to clean my RV for the first time. Anyone know if walking on the roof is safe on this model? I'm about 210lb.

Looking forward to learning a lot here about our new passion!

Welcome to the forum from New Jersey, typically if your rig has a ladder the roof is walkable, if not its not recommended .

The 23RB does not have a walkable roof.

I used two pieces of 2’ x 4’ x 2” thick rigid foam insulation to distribute my weight when on top of our 23RB.

Welcome! We own a 2013 23RB. I agree that it is not a walkable roof.

As a proud owner of a 2017 23RB, the first thing I would do is replace your tires and change your suspension bolts to wet bolts and change the equalizer! Slow, covers the whole process with part numbers and photos. Will make one hell of a big difference! Just put in a search for wet bolts and you will find post by Slow!

As for tires, what do you recommend? I can do a search, I'm sure there are plenty of discussions on tires, but since you have the same trailer, curious what you went with?

Mine came with Trailer King II, they seem to be in good condition, new of course.

One advantage the 23RB has is that the tires have a significant load carrying capacity relative to the gross trailer weight. I ran our OEM Trailer Kings with a TST 507 TPMS for three seasons (~10,000 miles, and three years after tire manufacture) before replacing them with ST225/75R15 Carlisle Radial Trail HD D8 TL. The Carlisle's were problem free for the next two seasons we had the trailer. BTW: My original thought was to actually go to Maxxis tires as a replacement. But all those available at the time to me had older manufacturing codes than I was willing to accept. Whereas the Carlisles were less than 6 months old.

I currently have factory installed GY Endurance on our FW. They are doing well, but IMO the workmanship is subpar to the Carlisles, at least on the exterior surface that I can view. When it is time to replace the GY, I will most likely go to the Carlisle again.
