Pin Box Reciver for Bike Rack
Just thought I would share this quick and easy receiver for a bike rack on our 2007 Copper Canyon. Never liked the idea of hanging bikes off the back of a trailer, watching them bouncing around on trailers in front of me.

Sorry this was custom built. Had been thinking of one for a while, but all the steel supply locations are on the other side of town, and just tough to get to. I was lucky to have the angle iron given to me on a job site out of town.
I leveled the 5er, placed a piece of angler iron on the pin box and scribed a level line. Bought the 2" receiver from local RV Dealer. Cut the angle iron correctly, and took the assembly to local welder to have it all welded up.

Looks nice. I'll bet you could patent that and sell it.

Looks real nice and the bike will have a much better ride in that location instead of the rear.
You have a long bed truck with an extended pin hitch so you have some clearance for the bike. I think a short bed with a slider hitch would be pushing the clearance needed unless you are mounting the bike up up and away from the cab, and maybe so, being those rear mountings I see on the road are up there when they are hooked up. Would like to see it complete with bike if you don't mind snapping a photo.
That would open the door to someone putting on one of those cargo racks if it was up in the air. It may need more than this 8" offset.

That sure looks like you wouldn't want to make too tight a turns with the truck once you hang the bike and bike rack on it.

well long bed TV, 52" from pin to front of box. I don't foresee any issues. Bikes are only a bit over 5' long, which means they are likely in radius shadow of the corners of the 5er.

Well Time for an update!
Got our Swagman XC Cross-Country 2-Bike Hitch Mount Rack put together today, and took it over to the 5er too see how it fit! :h
Her are a couple pictures of the rack mounted with the bikes, no issues with cab clearance. The only issue was inside bike handle bar touched the front cap. I simply loosened and turned slightly.

Looks like it came out nice. Those bikes are going to have a lot of bug splatter on them. Take the time to give them a wax job too and it will make cleaning them so you can ride easier. I still think you could sell that idea and make some money off it.
