Howdy doodie Yall,
Will we have our first fifth wheel, a Cougar we nicknamed (buttercup's Baby) and a 2005 F250 RWD that I've had Bullet proofed, along with several other upgrades done to. The truck was my father who lost a battle with cancer last October. He and Ma in 2005 bought the truck and hauler a 30ft 13000lb fifth wheel. In 2011 they downsized and bought a 25ft Springdale. December my wife decided she wanted the Springdale and we bought the combo from Ma. Ma lives 3hrs away. We took a weekend to Ma's and loaded up camper and I took off for home it being my first time towing anything like this so I could get home before dark. Well 50 miles away from Ma's and constantly looking at all gauges and the mirrors I noticed a heavy white what looked like smoke but turned out to be water vapor, coming from the tailpipe. On a two lane, in the foothills of Carolina on a winding country road. Luckily ahead was a area on opposite side to pull off. Now its 2pm on a Sunday, I'm tore up not knowing, slam out in the middle of no where and 3 people stop and the third, a nice couple named Fred and Wilma, ummmm. Ole Fred looks to be in his 70's and he walks up and says, son I'm Fred and my wife there is Wilma. We are RV'ers for 27 yrs and also I give my life to Christ 27 yrs ago, can I help ya. I said can I hug ya. Fred looked then smiled and said lets get ya some help first. Ok. Fred had a diesel mechanic and a big yard. Truck went to mechanics, Springdale to Freds house. Took a month to get Truck (Sam nicknamed after Dad) back and a EGR replacement. Now if I'd known what I know now I'd never let him do the EGR would have done the delete instead. So I go get camper and on home another 100 miles and park it in yard. Wife and I had stayed in Camper numerous times account it was our bedroom when we visited parents. When they bought it and we went to see her I always wondered why they went smaller after all the room from there ole Coachman. Well I took rv to Bristol race track for the race and came home and told wife if you want to travel across the USA in 2015 when we retire I got to have a larger space. So we have a Camping World close and we visited it and found our present 2014 Cougar 280RLS (buttercups baby). I left out the part about Fred towing camper and the drunk about getting run over and he attacking me. Yall take care.
