Quit possibly the stupidest statement of the year...

https://www.cnbc.com/2017/08/16/marc...-business.html

If you had a business that sells RVs and RV parts, you'd THINK he'd know that most of his customers are older, more conservative, and have disposable income. Not to mention that Camping World sponsors NASCAR truck series.

I predict Camping World will take a big hit...and Gander Mt (outdoors) too for that matter.

Yep, they've already lost my business. I think it would help if you knew the demographic of your customers before you make a politically charged statement. They will suffer from this but, if they do damage control and keep this from being large scale main stream media they may never really feel any affects. As for me, my cash won't go there.

Second link worked. Yeah, saw that earlier this week. Just a bad decision all around. It's the reason Michael Jordan never said anything politically. When asked why he (may or may not have) stated "Because Republicans buy shoes too"

Companies trying to make money should know better than to alieniate half their fan base on either side.

I see he tried to apologize later on. These days it seems like you can't "take it back".

I've been a CW and Marcus Lemonis fan since I bought my last trailer and involved him in the messed up purchase process; he was great.

His interview is something I can't abide. He can apologize but that was simply because he knew he screwed up. His feelings about things are still the same - I have no use for it.

Just sent him a personal email describing my disappointment and disbelief at his comments...and my personal commitment to never see a CW again...which I love.

As was noted in another post, and as I told him, a successful business man needs to focus on his business and what he needs to do to grow it; not target 60% plus of his business base and tell them to never come back to his store - oh wait, I can do that....but it will be pretty painful. Political comments by business owners are just stupid.....

I was an early commenter on the RV Daily Report and FWIW, said goodby to Lemonis and CW. That report is a big cheerleader for him as well and may just dump it as well as his RV forum which I seldom visit anyhow as many folks there are kinda nasty.

Like Trump or not, Lemonis is a big time entrepreneur and should be aware of the public and shut up about politics. He has made mega bucks from the RV world and many don't share his sympathies (something like 64MM folks) Shooting yourself in the foot over political beliefs will not help his bottom line.

Wellll - if everyone who says they are boycotting CW actually does so - I would expect to see more discounts and less crowded stores - it's all good for me - not to mention my admiration for Mr Lamonis's calling it what it is

Didn't Lemonis and Camping World appear on the Apprentice? People are free to express their sentiments, words have consequences. I really don't care if he doesn't like Trump, In my book that is still disrespecting the office of the President. He was elected, he is President. Period.

Howdy All;

First I didn't think Political was a good subject for a forum ...
conversations tend to go personal quickly. That said I just
look at who is doin' the reporting and how the slant goes
(generally), from that source.

I am 100% sure I put nothing political in the post, but I'll check again....nope. Nothing political. Just my opinion on his statement.

The email address I have is one that was provided to me during a situation with CW years ago and isn't his published email. That said, I believe his published email address is [email protected]. He does respond....he responded to mine at 12:03am this morning......

I also agree with the previous post about trying to insert politics into the forum - especially nowadays. The OP posted this as an observation about poor business decisions IMO. It IS a very poor business practice to insert politics into your daily business operations and it's sad to see that Lemonis has done that.

I agree that politics should be avoided on the forum, that said. FWIW I think everyone should call there own balls and strikes. What ever side of the fence you are on. People should make their view know, especially when they are asking you spend money at their establishment. This was a BAD decision on for Marcus to inject his political views into his business. I am afraid He will pay a price, for how long is any ones guess.
BTW thanks for the email address.

There is nothing in CW, GS or any of his other businesses that I cannot get otherwise, for the same price or less... So it will not bother me to no longer shop with him... Now if he buys Bass Pro or Cabela's... I may have to rethink that...
