I know, I know Not another LED thread

But.... have any of you used the 24-5050 http://www.amazon.com/GRV-24-5050-Su.../dp/B00EDFM3B2

As opposed to the 24-3528 http://www.amazon.com/24-3528-Bulb-S...V9A741MSEFGSZR

I know the 5050 is 3W and going to be brighter than the 3528 at 1.5 watts, my real concern is the blub fitting into the lights.. They list the dimensions of the 3528 as 5.9 x 3.6 x 1.1 inches That can't be nearly 6 inches.. it's got to be 5.9mm.... no?

Javi-
In the Product Description for the 5050, it lists the diameter as 44mm and for the 3528 the diameter is shown to be 28mm.
The Product Description blurb is found below the stuff in the ad. I think I'm reading it correctly but ......
Does this make any more sense?

I was not going down that far.. I stopped at product dimension. and didn't scroll any further.

But has anyone on the forum tried the 5050 blub.. I'd like it a little brighter 'cause getting old sucks..

A little "tutorial" on LED's : The 3528 SMD (Surface Mount Diode) is 3.5mm long, 2.8mm wide and has ONE light emitting diode on the surface. The 5050 SMD is 5.0mm long, 5.0mm wide and has THREE light emitting diodes on the surface. Both chips use almost the same energy and the 5050 is almost 3 times brighter.

So, of the two, if there are 24 SMD's on the board, on the 3528 board there will be 24 "light sources" while on the 5050 board there will be 72 "light sources". Since both use about the same energy, you'll get almost 3 times more "light" from the 5050 assembly for the same amount of amperage used.

Here's one source of information that's easy to understand: http://www.flexfireleds.com/pages/Co...5050-LEDs.html

Most people find the 3528 assemblies bright enough for all but the most demanding "fine work". Here's a relatively inexpensive source: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LMQMOUU?psc=1

I have the 5050 warm white leds in my trailer. I think they are actually a bit brighter than the standard incandescent bulbs, and the color is almost identical.

Thanks for the heads up John and Javi..
based on this thread I just ordered 18 bulbs. I think I have 17 of these bulbs in the camper. I will see what happens. Wait make that 20 bulbs dang forgot bulb over the stove, I am not even sure now.
I just put LED's on my golf cart wow what a difference they made with 1/10 of the amperage draw compared to my old lights. and so much brighter. this will be my second foray into the LED world.
Have a great Memorial Day all. Remember our fallen Hero's.

Thanks

That's what I'm looking for, especially with the ceiling lights in the 333MKS when we turn them on it just isn't bright enough for these old eyes.. and the pendent light over the island don't help all that much.

I thought I'd go with the 5050 in the ceiling fixtures (921) and pendent lights (1076) and the 3528's in the under cabinet lights..

Oaky, y'all convinced me.. I bought 20 of these http://www.amazon.com/24-3528-Bulb-S...V9A741MSEFGSZR

and 10 of theses for the pendant lights.. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm gonna give the 3528 blubs a chance but reserve the option of buying the 5050 bulbs if the 3528 aren't bright enough..

swapped out the 3528's today and think they'll work for most of the fixtures.. but also think I'll order some of the 5050 for reading lights and the bath.. might be a good mix.

OK my LEDs came saturday and were installed on Sunday looks like the same amount of light as before BUT now so much less wattage used.
I came up short on LEDS. I still need the 2 over the headboard on the bed, the two over stove. the 2 pendant lights by the couch. the 3 for over the table light and the 2 hanging from the ceiling over the sink plus three or four around the outside of the camper.
Thanks they work great and came very timely,
randy

Hi Javi,

In case you're not happy with the 3528 bulbs, here is a list of the 5050 bulbs I'm using since last year in my trailer and loving their performance.

I bought the 5050 bulbs from http://www.ebay.com/usr/2011_led?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

These are the ones I bought for most of the trailer fixtures: http://www.ebay.com/itm/10x-T10-921-...item2a31d94875

These for the pendant lights: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1x-BA15S-114...item27cb4f6ff9

Now, for under the range vent and for cooking only, the Warm White bulb brightness wasn't enough so I went with this White bulb: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171447568361...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

What a difference. Even the incandescent bulb wasn't bright enough for cooking. Now, the indirect bright white light makes it easier to prep and cook food, and I can tell the difference between fingers and sausages!

Good luck!

Thanks, we're giving the 3528 blubs a workout next week and hopefully the 5050 (1076) blubs I ordered for the pendant lights will make it in time so we can test them all.. I do expect that I'll be buying a few of the 5050 (921) blubs before it's over especially for the reading light above the couch..
