Your assessment of a diesel pusher is the same as mine came out. I fully intended to get one when we retired but I felt the same as you. With our lifestyle we go all the time, but it wouldn't be in the Class A but about 3-4 months of the year; and most of that would be sitting in one place. The other 8-9 months it just sits and degrades in storage; plus I would be paying for the drivetrain and all the other "stuff" to just sit - a big stranded investment - if you could call it that. In addition I would have had to buy some kind of 4x4 to pull behind it. My SUV and truck are too big and my old CJ7 is too fragile and.....well, old. I have to have a truck because I use it all time so I may as well have a trailer - with today's choices in RVs you don't lose anything by giving up going with a Class A IMO - and you already have the truck to pull it

I work on everything from 15' single axle trailers to 45' diesel pushers with tag axles. Recently found out that GD Reflection is the #1 fifth wheel for full timers. Don't know who did the data, but we sell a ton of them. As far as class A's I wouldn't drive anything other than a diesel pusher, having driven both. I too like the idea that you can unhook and run into town. Other option is a Super C with a little car in the garage.

We had a C in the '80's. It did justify me buying an old used wore out Jeep CJ5. I drug it around Texas, Colorado, Wyoming, Dakotas, etc. No way to travel with kids and not have a toad. But now....we mostly travel/sightsee and sit at night. The DW needs to have her feet up a fair amount of time to keep them from exploding. I "think" I can manage stopping at restaurants and a few tourist traps in a medium sized C. But I have thought wrong before.
I'm pretty sure I want to do something different. We're stuck being a bit too big for Nat parks, which is where I would like to spend more time. I was the professional "what if" guy for 25 years and I can "what if" that cheesey RV suspension to death.
Maybe just too much time on my hands lately.

We just bought another 333MKS, just couldn't find another floor plan we liked as much, but were tired of having to move the recliners every time the slides come in. Lots of upgrades from 2013-2017.
Looked at GD but not ready to buy the last one yet.

I have seen/read good things about the Northwoods units, but have not personally seen one to really see the construction first hand. The DW really likes the size and layout of the 27-5L they make. We both want a fifth wheel for the towing benfits, but hate how big most of the fifth wheel on the market are...

Sorry long rambling... The Silver Fox 35-5Z might be one layout close to what you are looking for, but not many dealers around so might make for a long trip just to see one.

But wait....there IS the Coachmen Mirada Class A gasser. Azdel laminated backed walls, no luan plywood. 80 gallon gas tank. Mid $90's.
Our plan is to "go in" with our son on a barn big enough for his toys and ours, when he starts to build on acreage he just bought. Whatever gets bought new and put in the barn will be "the last one". I'm guessing about 2 years to get there.
