Smell from the toilet.

I’m not sure which forum thread this belongs in, but I wanted to give a little tip out there to any new comers to travel trailers. Me and my wife are still wet behind the ears as we are in our second year of full time ”RVing” and we had a problem. There was this awful smell coming from our bathroom. No matter how much deodorizer or enzymes I poured into the black tank or back washed the tank, I could not for the life of me get this smell to stop. It was so bad the only thing keeping the wretched beast of an odor from engulfing our home was weather stripping around the door to the latrine. But every time we opened the door it would come out to reek havoc in our noses. So I went to the internet and tried every idea they said. Didn’t work. But then I thought about when you have a toilet in a residential setting (house) you have to put a wax ring down when you’re setting it. It’s a seal. So I pulled my toilet off and examined the seal. It was worn out. So I bought one online. Cleaned the area and the toilet, replaced the seal and now me and my wife can live in peace without that awful smell ever again.
Sorry for all the gramitical errors and possible misspelling and/or missuse of words, but I hope this has been helpful and slightly comical to read. God bless and good luck.

MSU, glad it worked out for you. Small thing, big smell, cured!
Keep in mind when posting that spelling doesn't matter, you aren't required to use paragraphs, capitalization, proper grammar, (or gramer!), or even agree with the other posters. Just come back often and join in when you can....
