Height of 5er when hitched

Just curious...does everyone know the height of their rig when hitched up?

I measured mine after adding the front A/C unit because it looked talllllll...

13' 2" when on the truck on level ground.

Yep, on level ground, Kroger parking lot, 13' 4 1/2 " Security guard at Kroger came over and wanted to help so I put him to work. Nice guy.....and probably more interesting than guarding their carts.

I was curious about this too, we ordered a 336bhs and the manual lists it at 12'6 but we added the front ac so I was wondering what that does to total height.

Ain't but one way to find out.... get an 8' - 10' 2x4, a 4' level, a good measuring tape, a ladder, a buddy and get 'er done..

Be sure you are on level ground...

Our combination, with front A/C, the tall Dometic, measures 13' 4".

Your 5th wheel should be the same height whether hooked up or not. What ever the sticker or manual says should be correct. However changing to a taller tire size or adding a roof A/C will increase the height flipping the axle will do the same thing.

Old timer, I'm going to respectfully disagree with that statement. The 5th wheel should always be hooked to the TV, road ready, and then measured on level ground. The height of a truck bed may vary up to 6 or 8 inches. If one is towing an ultra-lite with an F-150 it will be lower than if it is towed with a GMC 3500.

12'4" level. 2014 Cougar 327RES level on a 2013 GMC 2500 HD.

Level is level ...... If the trailer is level it will be the same height whether hooked to tv or not. Now.... if you don't tow level, you better measure when hitched to avoid surprises.

Keystone advertised height is level , not hitched.

If you watch as you drive the roads it'll become obvious that about 1/2 the 5'ers out there aren't towing level..

FYI.. mine is setting at 13' 6" when hooked up and on level ground to top of front A/C.

Me and the DW measured ours hooked up. Since she was the calculus teacher, I had the dumb end of the tape up top with the 1x4 and 3ft level.
She said 13' 3".
Later I asked if she was looking at the tape on the ground, or adding 3" for the tape reel.
HUH??
I'll call it 13' 6" to be safe ,and maybe have a "re-do".

Seems to me that it makes more sense to measure the height when hitched up - level or not. After all, when going under overpasses, overhead obstructions, etc., you are hitched up and should know if that height will get you through without shearing off your A/C or vents.

For whatever reason, I believe we are all headed in same direction on this subject. Measuring the height of a trailer sitting by itself wouldn't serve much purpose.

Reading through this whole thread, and I was sort of going, what difference does it really make if the trailer is just sitting, not hooked up to your tow vehicle. I just can't imagine too many aircraft flying low enough when my fifthwheel is parked to hit it?

I know Keystone says ours is 13'2", so I've always assumed 13'6", but may measure now since my current(and new TV) is about 6" inches higher.

We have a great reminder to think about the height when towing, as there is a overpass about 1/4 mile from our storage facility which is the shortest route there, when picking up the RV that is only 10'10". Sort of is a wonderful reminder on every trip that you can't ever forget - I HOPE!

You really got to watch the secondary roads and their overpasses.. The placard ain't always up to date and 13' 8" ain't always 13' 8"... I use 13' 10" in my GPS to avoid the off chance that they paved the roadway last month.. Makes a big mess when you hit one of them suckers.. Been there in a 13' 4" load that hit a 13' 8" overpass... yep.. they paved the road twice since the placard was hung.. Older local guy came over and told us that..

I was going down to the crossroads...
Actually trying to get to the Blues Museum in Clarksdale Mississippi. RR underpass was like 12ft. I drove all over town to get around it. Finally got there.
I would recommend it if you're in the area. Morgan Freemans joint in town is sorta cool in its own way.
I've been threatenin the DW I was gonna do the Blues Trail one of these days. She don't get it. Howlin Wolf, huh?

Our 2008 29' Copper Canyon is lower when level and Unhitching than it is when hitched. My rig doesn't tow level.
