What type of grease do you use?
What kind of lube do you use on a fifth wheel? And please don't tell me about the stupid disks. I just want grease. I will not deal with the disks dang crap any more!

WOW, sounds someone had a bad experience with a disk!!
Well if you had a bad experience with a disk, just wait till you start using grease!! I would just use the least expensive I could fine, as you will likely use a lot of it.
Just got to ask, why the dislike of the disks???

x2, curious to hear what the issue is with the discs, that's all I have used for years, much better than dealing with the mess of the grease.

I really don't know anyone in my camping circles that doesn't use a Disc. Mine has been on so long, I forgot about it.
As far as grease goes, I would use the heaviest viscosity and cheapest you can find. Oh yeah, don't forget to pack rags

Use a good Molybdenum Disulphide grease. Looks like a dark grayish color,
works very well under the pressures that the fifth wheel plates exert upon
each other. Be sure to be liberal and give the plate a good thick smear.

Prior to installing the Pullrite, I used the white lithium grease than comes in a tube. Was easy to apply, the tube had a screw cap, never noticed any unusual wear. The only other grease I considered was heavy bearing grease in a can, but nixed that as too messy. No matter what grease you use, its a mess if you get too close to the kingpin.

I use a disk - way less mess - doesn't attract dirt.
I still lube the kingpin and hitch jaws with an EP grease being careful to keep it off the plastic disk.

For what ever reason the disk gets hot enough on the hitch that it glues it's self to both parts, when trying to unhitch all it does is raise the truck, takes for ever for it to come off.

I've been towing fifth wheels with the disc for 5+ years now, others here have been towing with discs much longer than me. This is the first time I've heard of a disc "melting" and "gluing" itself to the hitch/pinbox... Are you using a commercial disc or a home-made replica?
If it's a commercial disc, I'd contact the manufacturer and see if they have any suggestions. You've got what looks like a "one of a kind" problem....

I bought the disk from camping world, it's a 12 inch black one, I don't know what it's issue is, all I know is my landing gear motor will be going out if I keep it on there. I have to go up and down and over and over, it it finally releases. This is the first year with the disk but it's a pain for us. Maybe I should try another brand.

We use a Reese Elite Series Lube Plate. It's white, 12" and I've never had an issue with wear or sticking. It's sold by Reese Hitch Company for use on their hitches and has worked well for me on my Curt Hitch. I pulled it off the Springdale and put it on the Cougar, so it's at least 5 years old now and still working well.
CMS and Camco also sell fifth wheel discs, but I don't know much about them, just have seen them in several RV parts stores hanging on the wall.

Same here, came with my first hitch. The same disc has been transferred from one RV to the next. Same disc, 3rd 5er and works just as good as day one.

If its lifting the truck it sounds like you are trying to uncouple by lifting the trailer off the hitch. Drop the landing gear open the jaws and drive out from under the trailer.

Is it possible that you've hit on the problem? Is the OP trying to lift the kingpin out of the hitch rather than opening (unlocking) the jaws and driving forward?
hnhmac, can you give us more information on what you're experiencing when trying to unhitch?

I never lift the 5er far enough to see light, take most weight off of the hitch, but not all. Pull the release handle (Wheels Chocked first!), and drive out.
