Am I Now Over Legal Height Limit?
Cougar 327 RES -12' 3"
Attwood Air Command ( Ductless) 13,500 installed in front bedroom.
My dilemma ..different sites seem to report different specs for the AC. (?)
Does anyone have this combination or can anyone give me some factual spec info? I would have thought Camping World installers would have cautioned against exceeding height limits? I originally thought this was a low profile AC and was surprised when I picked it up and it is obviously not.
Thanks for any advice and or info.

Mosnowman, Howdy;
The different States set their own height limits,
most are at 13'6" minimum for bridges
and overpasses. That said there will be some that
are lower. Those that are lower are not usually part
of what is referred to as "The National Network" ("The National
Network consists of the Interstate system and designated
Federal-aid primary highways" from my copy of Rand McNally's
Deluxe Motor Carriers Road Atlas, has a huge section at the
front with neat information).

Wonder if this info was transferred into the GOOD SAM Rand McNally GPS?
Have never received an alert from the unit, then again I have not been out looking for low tunnels and/or bridges

The states and counties may regulate bridge and overpass height on their roads, but the minimum height on Interstates is 14' and 16', depending on if you are in a rural or urban area. This was put in place back in the 50s when the Interstate the systems Interstate systems were being started to insure that the military would be able to transport materials over them in the event of a national emergency.

Instead of relying on inconsistent specs/info for height calculations, why not get on the roof & get an exact measurement? IMHO, it's worth the peace-of-mind.

That's what I do. Hook it up to the TV, find the highest spot, place a 4' level at that point so it overhangs the edge and drop a tape to the ground. That is the only way to make sure you know what the height is going down the road. If your RV is not level when hooked up to the TV the heights will be different than manufacturer specs.

Lets remember this folks, 13'6" is the normal height of Tractor trailers.
But never believe that things are what they are SUPPOSED to be. Power/cable lines by law are SUPPOSED to be a minimum of 14' high. But sad to say a lot are not. After cold winters & hot summers the lines stretch and actually hang lower over time. Sad to say the power/cable companies do NOT look for these sagging lines. The only way they know about them is when they are struck by a vehicle. Always be aware of your surroundings. I have personally had to back my tractor trailer almost a mile out of a neighborhood because of such a situation.

With our Montana sitting in our driveway (13' 4" at front vent cover) and completely visible from the street, Verizon installed their wonderful FIOS cables on the telephone poles going up our street at 12' 8" above our driveway. A neighbor a few houses up had clearance way under even that. It took me over two weeks of complaining (once threatening to just drive out no matter how much cable I took with me) before someone finally showed up and lifted the fiber. Before then, one of their techs told me to just use a pole to lift it up. I told him I'd use the loping part and solve everything, but he wasn't amused.

Great answer! Had a friend of mine who had a motorhome, that was 13' 6", and he had a wire, just like you describe. He often used a long 2x4 to lift the wire when he backed in, and pulled out, except one time. Yep, caught the wire, the Motorhome AC cover caught, and started the RV on fire. It was a total loss, right down to the floor, real ugly image to see.
I'll see if I can find a picture of it.
