Water heater problem
We keep are Montana 5th wheel parked on a private lot with electrical, water & sewer hook ups. My wife was using the trailer for a weekend getaway, Friday night the water heater worked fine, but during the night it stopped. She checked the circuit breakers and looking outside she noticed that the on/off rocker switch in the outside water heater compartment would not move. How do I go about figuring out what the problem is and fixing it?
Thanks,
Larry

Were you heating water with electric or propane? There is a small metal clip that is inserted in that rocker switch when it is in the off position. Is it possible that clip is in place and you are out of propane? The switch should move if the clip is no inserted .... it may have failed ...... try operating on gas.

I would say that probably the little switch on the hot water heater got fried. Same thing happened to us working good and then nothing. The switch are no good. very weak They burn out quite often.

You don't say what size or brand heater you've got. What others have said is true, but there's also (on the larger ones anyway) breakers in the heater itself. There's two black rubber pads that have push in breakers behind them, roughly in the middle of the sheet metal behind the door. If either breaker trips, they make a slight bump in the rubber and that's the only indication you get (other than no hot water!). Just push each of them straight in to reset.

water heater problem
The two black rubber pads were not "bumped" out, so as others have stated it sounds like the switch is fried. Now, how is it replaced, ytube video? And can I buy one one line?
All of you have been great!

Check your paperwork for the part you need, most likely one of THESE and it should be a simple job WITH SHORE POWER UNPLUGED. Since you are replacing it you don't have to worry about breaking the old switch by prying it out. New switch should just snap in. JM2¢, Hank
