2013 Avalanche 341tg for Full-Time

My husband and I will be going to look at an Avalanche 341tg and was wondering if anyone has one that they use full-time.

As we have a 341 tg as well and only use it holidays , I would use it as a full timer ,because of it having 2 baths and bed rooms.

Although we are not full time yet (still have 18 months until I retire) we have the 2012 341TG that we plan to full time in. I think it would suffice as a full time unit and we plan on keeping it for that purpose.

Thank you for your responses. Have either of you camped in your RV in extreme temps? I noticed that the R factors could be better in this model.

We camped in the high teens low 20s. We made sure the furnace was set at 55 and used electric heaters in the bedrooms. I disconnected the shore water supply and only used the on board water. She made it through the several nights we had but it was above freezing during the day so I am sure that helped. I did get under later and found several furnace vents to the belly but a tremendous amount of areas that could and should be better sealed. I think short term extreme cold you would be fine but long term below freezing temps and you will have to do some modifications.

We got our 341 TG this spring and are very happy with it. Went with that floor plan due to older kids that still camp with us and the option to couples camp too.we are very pleased with how well the RV worked this season. We spent 30+ days in it on various trips. Worked great with the kids and a long weekend with another couple. When it was just the 2 of us the back bedroom was nice to hang out in for morning coffee and the paper if it wasn't quite warm enough outside. We are also looking at possibly full timing a bit when I retire and think the RV will work out well.

I can't tell from the pictures if the shower is in the bedroom or in a separate area. Can someone share? Also, when it's more than just the two of you, is it hard to get comfy when watching TV? We're a family of four who love to pile in the living room to watch a movie together and it seems like that would be very difficult to do with such a small couch.

I was able to watch a video of this unit on youtube and had the question about the shower answered.

Sandee you are right about the small couch. What we did was remove the dinette and put the second couch from the bunk area in the living area. We now use TV trays. I then built a second bunk with storage to replace the couch. I can post pics if you like. And yes the shower is in separate area than the bedroom.

Glenn,

I love the idea of putting the couch from the bunk room in the living room, that would work well for the four of us to sit comfortably and watch a show. Do you think it would work to put the table and chairs in the bunk house in place of the couch? We could eat in there.

And I would love to see pics of your mods!

Sandee here is the link to the mods we did.

http://www.keystonerv.org/forums/showthread.php?t=13683

As for putting the dinette in the rear bunk area, I don't see why you couldn't. The upper bunk lifts up and latches so that would be a non issue. The dinette could be screwed to the floor in the same manner. We needed the extra bunk so we forgo the dinette altogether.

Heading over to see your pics now.

I see that you have a 2012 which is the year we're considering. It appears to be identical to the 2013 but with a savings of about $10,000. There's a private seller from us about 6 hrs away selling one for $43,500, only used one summer.

I think the only change in the 2013 may be an addition of an exit door out the rear bath but I could be confusing that with another model. I would look around because you should be able to pick up a 2013 for 39,995 somewhere. You may have to drive a bit but it may be worth it. Just Googleing I see this one in Texas. http://www.genuinerv.com/2013-keysto...eel-tx-i636093

Not yet...sadly. We put 8000 miles on her last year and wish it was more! I have 18 months until I retire and then we will be full timing it. Can't wait!

8000 miles is quite a bit. How did you manage to get in so much RV time while still working?

I work a weird schedule. Every other week I only work Wed and Thursday so I can take two days off from work but actually have 7 days off straight. Plus I am burning up almost 24 years of vacation!! ...lol

Do you know of a thread of full-timers where we "hopefuls" can ask our questions?

Sandee -
There is a category/section here on the forum called "Full-Timers & Snowbirds". Have a look-see there and see what you can find. I would encourage you to submit future posts and/or questions about full-timing in that section of forum rather than here in the 5th wheel category.

If you have any questions or comments related to the Avalanche 341TG, then continue to post them here in the 5th wheel section. Thanks.

If you do a Google search, there are a host of sites about full-timing - just type in "RV Full-timing" and you'll get plenty of hits.

OK thanks. I noticed that we were starting to get off topic and that's why I asked about a full-timing thread. I will head there now.
