Planing on leaving Sept 4 for moab utah trying for Big Bend it's first come camping site . There are only a few camp sites that except large rigs. I'm
Wondering what to expect in finding a camp site ? Are the roads paved to the camp site ? This will be a stop over 4 nights are the parks motor cycle friendly ? Where making our way up to fort Stevens OR and down the coast.

You're looking at a BLM campground with Big Bend. It's right on the River with some Tamarac trees for a little shade. We have not stayed there but yes, it is a fairly open area so not bad for larger units. All sites are dry camping. The road UT 128, follows the Colorado river in and is paved 2 lane all the way. Lots to see around there as I'm sure you are aware. A little off the beaten path are some really cool petroglyphs just off I 70 close to the little town of Thompson Springs. North through town follow the road to Sego Canyon. Have lunch with the "Aliens"

Canonman thank you . I was surfing the web when I came across U TUBE Can you believe I had veraural tour of Big Bend utah and I can say the way you explained the area is backed up on u tube. I also found Memaloose st park and ft Stevens st park both in Oregon. The virtual took me through every camping site . I got to see both sites that are reserved for me , the middle of Sept .

Happy to be of help. The area around Moab is full of very unique places to visit and enjoy. If you'd like some additional suggestions or have questions feel free to PM me any time.

We've been to Moab three or four times. We camped in a campground that was close to town next to the Colorado river. The first time, we rolled in at night, got set up, and woke up to one of the most stunning views i've ever seen. That little town is magical. Surrounded by lots of natural beauty.
