Hitch Vison washed Off

Hi all
Before washing the 5th last month the hitch vison Was very cloudy
So I washed the compete rig and found the hitch vison coating would wash off
This is the 4th time it was washed since new and no solvents were used

Has anybody else had this issue?

Monday I will be calling dealer and see what they can do

Thanks
Lester

Must be some powerful soap you are using. Our rig is a 2012, and that mirror thing looks like it did when new. I personally could care less if it works or not, because I've never used it and never think to even look at it when hitching up because I can see the hitch plate and the pin box as I back up.

I'm not sure what brand a model 304 falls into in the Keystone product lines, but we've got a 2014 Cougar XLite and just like bobbecky's trailer, ours is as shiny as when it was new. I'm not sure how you're washing it, but with a 4 time occurrence, I'd be looking at something you're doing rather than a mirror failure. Yours is the first one I've heard about failing as you describe.

Let us know more about how you clean it and what your dealer says.

And, welcome to the forum.

Is it possible that what turned cloudy and is peeling off is the clear protective coating that came from the factory? My '07 is still as shiny as new ... when I clean the white streaks off.

I'm having the same issue as the OP. I had a '15 cougar and the mirror never clouded, I have washed the Alpine 1 time with the same soap I used on the Cougar, (Meguires Ultra Gold wash and wax), and the mirror has become very clouded, I don't think it's from washing it. If I have to take the trailer in for any warranty work I'm going to ask about it.

I didn't use this mirror at first either but once I realized that looking in the rear view mirror of the truck was a lot more comfortable than twisting around to look out the rear window I got spoiled.

Mine on my 18 331 high country was cloudy too, so while I was waxing it today I noticed the mirror stuff coming off. Never used mine either.

Mine streaked and became a cloudy gray as well. Called service who said the plastic mirror can be replaced. (Or painted) I asked about a stainless replacement but was not known if there is an after market replacement.

There are several "plastic mirrors" available for sale. Here's one on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/12-24-Acrylic...gateway&sr=8-5 price is less than $25. Cut to size/shape and glue it over the old mirror or pull the old one off and replace it (might damage the fiberglass cap if you're not careful)...

There is also a product available that is a "self ashesive mylar film" that's not much more than a "tape mirror" that you can cut with scissors, peel and stick in place. I don't have any idea how durable that might be, but here's one link: https://www.amazon.com/Flexible-Stic...B4XNB6YMEY2Y3W
