It finally came!!!
Ordered the new “Big Red” on March 11. It got to the dealer on Wednesday this week. So we went down today to get it. Bringing it home we put 250 miles on it, so a quarter of the way to the official tow time. Absolutely love this truck, wide hips and all! And of course, the payload of 5456 lbs is wonderful!
The last photo is of our new truck next to the old truck. Same truck, 2 more tires!
Edit: And I suppose the best part, still fits in the garage. Just have to squeeze the hips in slowly and gently. We have about 4.5”-5” on each side of fenders to the garage door opening.

Awesome truck. Looks like it’s the 6.7 ??? If so, you’ll love the way it tows. Big difference from the SB SRW. Turning radius will make you forget you used to drive a truck, but you’ll get used to it. Congratulations

To back Ford dropped the option of wide track front axle on the F350, as they and the F450 turn much tighter. Chris

Chris, one gets use to the wide hips and larger turn radius, you should try one you would love it. Just ask Ron and I!

Looking at that third photo, the new DRW looks noticeably higher at the tailgate than the SRW. The difference between our old 2001 Ram 2500 and the 2016 DRW was about 1".

Welcome to the Dually club....I love my 2016 for towing, and occasional use for other driving. Excessive payload is a wonderful thing!

Beautiful truck, Lynette. I'm sure you're going to enjoy the heck out of it and how well it does what you ask of it. Enjoy those next 750 miles and the anticipation !!!!!

Yep. Unfortunately it is about 2-2.5” taller than its predecessor. I’m a little worried for next Sunday. Camper is parked down at the campground and we’re bringing it home. There will be a whole assortment of tools brought down in case I have to play with the B&W Companion or the pin box. We kept the Companion from the last 2 trucks (the 2009 and the 2016). Those trucks it was plug n play (just plug the Companion in the gooseneck hole, and hitch up camper and go). This truck I don’t think I will get as lucky. Interestingly I noticed the dually has one more spring (leaf) each side for the rear wheels than the 2016 SRW did. Both are Lariat crew cab long beds, only difference is the 2016 had FX4 package and this one is a dually. Maybe being a dually accounts for the 2” higher?
Tuesday it goes in to get the new turnover ball installed. Yay! And it will get an in-bed 7-way plug put in at some point too. So far managed to put another 100 miles on it today. And it’s amazing how quickly you get used to driving with wide hips (the trucks, not me!). The turning radius is no issue for me, all of our trucks since 1999 have been longbed crew cabs so I’m used to it.

Congrats on the new truck Lynette!! It's a beaut! Those break in miles will go pretty quickly......isn't there a little trip you need to take to roll 'em up pretty quick?

And thank you everybody! I have to admit, I’m very curious to see how this truck tows the camper and horse trailer!
And a couple more pictures of the 2 trucks next to each other. I apologize, the sun was in the wrong place at the time...

Turn radius of F450 is better than all but a few F150 models, that's what wide track does. That is one reason I paid the extra couple of grand (about $2,000 IIRC) for the upgrade from a 350 to a 450 for, the other was bigger brakes.
