Have you had your battery(s) checked checked ? You need fully charged batteries to operate awning, slides, landing gear or stabilizers even when plugged into shore power.

Battery is new!
And no incommand!

It just stops and then restarts!
I tried to ck voltage at back of swith but started working before I got the switch out.
One time I started to retract it manualy and it started working after rolling about 1 revolution on roller. Has me stumped!

Sounds to me like a possible switch or connection to the switch issue. Agree with Chuck, pull the switch and take a look. It's better to fix it now rather than when you're packing up trying to leave. Things don't "fix themselves" so it will happen again.

40A switch? I don’t think the awning motor pulls anywhere near 40 amps.

The awning switches are not a "manufacturer specific switch" and most are mounted on a generic panel attached to the wall of the trailer. Nearly all the RV manufacturers use a similar panel and the switches, except for color, are typically interchangeable, regardless of trailer brand.

So, any RV parts department should have a suitable "awning switch" (also used for slides and sometimes for landing gear) hanging on the wall in their "RV Accessories" section and/or in stock in their parts department.

In the Duluth area, there's Camping World, Bullyan RV, Highway 33 RV. Any of them should have a replacement switch either hanging in their electrical accessories section or in the parts department.

That said, the motor for the awning is located in the roller tube. there are two wires that run from the switch, through the trailer wall, up that moving arm to the motor, where they attach to the motor. I'd suspect that your issue is very likely the electrical connection "on the motor", the brushes in a 15 year old motor that's exposed to the weather inside an aluminum roller tube or even the wires that bend and flex as they're stretched in that articulating awning arm every time you roll it in or out.

In other words, there's lots of "probable causes" in addition to the switch, but you can buy a new switch locally at almost any RV parts store. There's no need for a "40 amp specialty switch, obtained only from the awning manufacturer". Here is a link to a selection of different "shape/color" switches on Amazon. Usually, it's more about decor than electrical function in finding a replacement: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=RV+awning...f=nb_sb_noss_1

The switch that is in the TT is a 40 amp 4 pole rocker switch.
Lipert parts spec a 40 amp switch, they sent a 40 amp switch in a panel that hes "Awning imbosed on it that is 6 poles,
Tried to make jumpers to make ot work but wont fit back into opening in wall, (jumper wires make it too bulky for wall thickness.)
Cked Camper World and others for switch and no luck.
Agree I do not think a 40 amp switch is needed as I just cked and fuse for awning is only 15 amps.
going to do more cking wiring and so on.
Thanks for all the help and input.

Those are not 4 pole or pole switches, that's the number of wire connections but in reality the switch is a 2 pole, center off, momentary switch, or a 2 pole reversing switch.. The switches with only 4 wire connections typically have the cross connection built in. Look at the bottom of the switch, it may have a wiring diagram embossed in the plastic.

The 40 Amp is a max rating and not the circuit rating. The 15 Amp fuse and appropriate wire size dictates the circuit rating.

Yes that is what the switch has ( my mistake on calling it 4 pole and not 4 wire conections).
I am looking for a switch that has the jumpers inside of the switch just like the origanal switch, just have not found it yet.
I will also ck the wiring for loose and bad connections.
Wires on switch are 12 guage white / yellow, and black on the awning arm, have to see if I can see the connections for that junction point.
Thanks for all the input. It keeps my old feeble brain working!

The wiring for the awning motor is tucked in the arm and then connected to the trailer wiring commonly using “bell” connectors. You may have to dig a big bunch of silicone to get to them.

Our second time using our New 2021 Cougar 25RDS and my awning will not open, the fuse is fine. Is there a lock somewhere I’m missing?
