50 amp Twist Lock connector installed wrong?
We just got our new Carbon 337 and I noticed something odd the first time I connected it to shore power using the cable it came with. The cable is the 90 degree style, ie. it's designed to hang straight down when connected to the 50 amp twist lock receptacle on the TH.
Unfortunately, the receptacle on ours was installed in an orientation that causes the cable to stick almost straight up (like 11 o'clock position) when plugged in and locked. It's awkward to plug in, looks weird, and seems like it would cause strain on the receptacle.
The 50 amp receptacle has 3 prongs, two of them have a 90 degree "ear", one doesn't. It looks to me like the flat prong (the one with no ear) is supposed to be positioned around 7 o'clock (lower left) which would allow the 90 degree cable to hang straight down, instead of being at 10 o'clock (upper left) like mine is.
Anyone else seen this? Is it easily fixable by the dealer?

Mine, on the rear of our 2016 Cougar 333MKS puts the end where it connects to the trailer, pointing to the 9 o'clock position. It looks like if it were to be oriented down, it would hit the bumper

that would not be an issue on ours, the receptacle is on the left rear side, and nothing beneath it protrudes.

If you feel comfortable doing it, and you can access the back side of the trailer recept. you could always take out the three or four screws that hold the receptacle in place on the side of the trailer and rotate the WHOLE recept..180 degrees. I'm not talking about removing any of the wiring from it, just rotating the housings to get the orientation that you want or need. And, make sure that the wiring behind the recept. has enough slack to be able to rotate it without pulling or straing the wires coming into it. Kind of like taking a 120V recept. and turning it over to put the ground pin on the top instead of on the bottom.

I'd prefer not to rotate the entire housing because it has a spring loaded cover that is hinged at what is currently the top, if I rotate the housing to get the desired plug orientation, the hinge would be on the side, and I'm afraid it would be more likely to get water in the receptacle when it rains. Maybe I'll tinker with it a bit and see how hard it would be to access the innards and rotate just the plug. I was hoping somebody might have already been down this road with a Carbon or similar

I rotated mine. When you take it off you can adjust the spring covered housing. Mine was at a crazy angle like yours. It is perfect now. Please points to the ground

that sounds encouraging, were you able to change it from outside, or did you have to access the back of the receptacle?

Just undid four screws and it comes off. The electrical is still connected. Twisted it and aligned the holes and screwed it back on. Less than 5 mins

Matt, sorry I didn't add that in, the part about the recept. housing cover is usually independent of the housing itself...so that the housing can be rotated, and the cover stay in the position that it's in. I guess I just assumed that you knew that.

Some of the receptacles have screws on the back that will allow you to change the orientation of the ground bar... You'll have to remove the front fasteners and pull the unit out of the wall enough to see if you're that lucky...

thanks X, no worries, sounds like it's pretty obvious once you actually take the screws out, like nellie1289 said, I just hadn't gotten that far yet . We had a Lance slide-in, but this is my first really big RV type thing, so I'm still a bit of a n00b.
