Leaky 18cu.ft fridge

Can anyone with the polar max fridge send me a picture of the back wall where the fins are? Mine seems to have an issue with water running between the foam insulation and plastic back, the re entering through holes in the back and puddling beneath crisper drawers. Looks like poor install or missing parts.

Welcome to the forum

I found an image on the web, and it appears that your unit may be missing the condensation tray that sits underneath the cooling fins. I can't be certain because your pic is to close up. If you could post a pic of the whole inside of the fridge it may help.

The drip tray is in there, but the water never makes it there because it falls behind the cut out. It seems it should be sealed somehow or flashed to divert water to the outside and into the drip tray.

Okay, I didn't see the drip tray in your photo so that's why asked. Hopefully another member wills a photo of the same area. I can't tell in the photo I found if the foam showing at the fins is normal.

Viking, I just talked to the DW, and when we had the problem with all the water in the bottom area where the drawers sit it was because the catch-tray at the top under the coils had worked its way forward and the drain tube had become disconnected. I don't know if this is the same situation or not.

Went to dealer last week and had a tech see the problem in action. He took some pictures and then said I don't know how fix that. Said he would call norcold, send them the pictures and get back to me.

If possible can someone post a picture of their cooling fins so I can compare? Thanks in advance.

My fins sit in the tray so from the shelf below you can not see the fins. In the picture it looks like from below and there is no tray in sight. The tray then sends the water outside.

We had a previous fridge that did not have the hose to the outside so I am not sure what happened to the water.

Frig pic

Attached is a picture of the fins in our 3160RL with the PolarMax18 frig. Looks pretty much the same as your pic. We haven't noticed any water problems like you described. Please let us know what the dealer and Keystone/Norcold end up doing to address the issue.

Thanks
Dave

It looks like yours has some type of clear plastic, between the fins and the foam, visible near the fins in the lower left of your picture and I could not see that in the picture posted by Viking4545?

Thanks,

-Brian

Yep, noticed that as well, but its just a piece of cellophane type thin clear sheet behind the fins and behind the plastic body of the frig that is over the foam insulation. It doesn't look like it would prevent any leaks, it might keep water off the foam, but it could still run down the back of frig body.
