Willy, I dumped the tank about a week ago. I didn't know anything unusual but can't say for sure I paid close attention.
How can I tell for sure the valve is opening? It appears to be opening and closing as it has always, with the same resistance.

It may be time for drastic measures. With the valve CLOSED, run a garden hose up from the exit to the valve. Then with the hose turned OFF, open the valve and push the hose. If it does go in then the issue is probably in the plumbing between the toilet and the tank. If it doesn't go in, then you have figured it out.

Chuck, I'm not sure this will work. My black and gray tank empty into a single header. I don't know which is the black tank or how to direct the water hose to either of the tanks. Any ideas?

Loosen enough screws and Drop the bottom cover enough so you can see the valve up under there

opening into a single header is good and your only hope to try and back flush into the black from the gray. Again need to know valve is opening

Black tank will dump with a 3" pipe, grey tanks usually use a smaller pipe.

Both my Bath Gray and Black tank piping are 3" in that area which aid in the back flushing and as stated I put on the twist on valve and fill all laterals

That's why I said "usually". I am seeing more 3" for both. I wonder if the factory's are trying to make it easier for the line workers.

I have dropped some of the underbelly lining. I can easily see the gray valve which is easiest to get to. I determined this is the gray valve by opening and closing, I can see that assembly moving. I know this valve is working because I have filled and emptied the gray tank 3 times since yesterday. But, I can't tell by looking at the valve if it is opened or closed. How do I determine if the valve is open or closed by looking at it? See pic of gray valve. Thanks for everyone's help. This is a pain in the behind.

If the cable is moving towards the valve it is closing. Pushing in on the handle.

Went to Holiday World this morning and bought a Valterra RV Hydroflush along with a Valterra Twist on Waste valve. Installed both and hooked up the water hose, closing the new Waste Valve placed downstream of the Hydroflush. Turned the water on for just a minute or two before opening new waste valve. A little water and TP came out. Repeated this procedure several times till I felt like I could close the black tank valve without getting a lot of TP stuck in the valve. Filled the black tank to about 3/4 or more full and flushed. Repeated this several times, each time getting more TP and sludge out. Still doing some tank fills, drain and flushing.
Observations:
1. Should have bought the clear elbow when I bought the trailer.
2. Back flushing definitely helped unclog the tank.
3. The clog was not in the header. I could see all the way to the end of it with the flashlight.
4. It helps to have a good friend when you're doing something like this.
Thanks to everyone for all the help. Very much appreciated.

In your picture you can see the outer part of the cable clamped to the valve you should also see the inter cable which is the part that moves attached to the a metal portion of the actual valve blade. When you can see that metal piece handle is pulled and valve is open, when handle pushed you will only see cable and not the medal portion.
Sounds like you are starting to break it loose. YA finding a person to help work on the black tank with you is a real friend
Have to ask, when you opened the underbelly lining, find any thing interesting? When I opened mine two empty tubes of caulk fell out
HEY what do you want for FREE
May be time for dumping ice cubes down toilet and going for a ride

It might also be helpful to change your diet or chew your food better.
Just sayin'...

Thanks PARAPTOR. I didn't determine that the black tank valve was opening by looking at it. But knew it was open when stuff started coming out. I didn't find anything unusual in the underbelly but I could see the insulation they put in there isn't of much value. I don't have a tow vehicle, just live in the trailer. At one point, I thought I would get one but I may take an early retirement instead. Glad this project is over. I should sleep good tonight. Spent a long time flushing the black tank then took a 13 mile bike ride.

Black tank full and not draining - Help
So have you been adding any "digesters" after you dump? Keeping an enzyme that eats paper and poop is a big help if you only dump when the tank is full.
Glad to hear things are flowing again.

Yep, all is flowing good now.
I have been adding some liquid stuff I bought at Walmart. Maybe need to add it more often. I didn't add it every time I dumped the tank but will now. Bought some more of it today.
