first road trip

bought a new outback 298re and just returned from our 'shakedown' trip to rio grande valley, tx. fom tennessee......total mileage 3434 miles.
now ready to report the good, bad and ugly.......there was no bad or ugly.
the unit performed flawlessly, towed perfectly and all systems operated without any failure. we were happy campers...
i pulled the unit with a 2011 f-250 6.7 and averaged 13 mpg (i do not exceed 55mph).
the floorplan is virtually perfect. plenty of space.
we encountered a severe rain storm lasting 10 hrs while camped at tickfaw state park, la. and zero leaks.
in short, we were very pleased with the 298re outback first trip out and look forward to 2013 camping trips.

Awesome news! Enjoy your new unit. With a name like Cokerman, I thought that you were either from South Carolina or a tire salesman.

Glad it all went well! That many miles is an aggressive "first trip"!

I love the RE (rear entertainment) floor plans as well.

Congrats on the new Outback and glad to hear all went well on your 3400 mile(wow) shake down cruise. We bought a new Outback 320BH last spring and camped in it for 63 nights last year with zero problems also. Have fun with your new rig, but mine will have to stay in hibernation for a while yet because as I write this it is 17 below zero outside. Oh well spring is comming (I hope).
