That makes the rig 14 inches over legal standard height for semis and would be required to have over-height permits and in some states maybe even an escort--- get up on the roof!!

According to your profile you live in Illinois. Here is a link to the Illinois DOT requirements for vehicular traffic on public roads.
http://www.idot.illinois.gov/assets/...oper%20753.pdf
As you can see, the maximum legal height for trucks and RV's on the public roads is 13'6". The dealership that sold you your trailer either did not measure properly or sold you an RV that is not legal to operate in your state.
My guess is that as has been stated a number of times, your salesman "lied" to you about the height.
My advice to you, as stated previously, get on the roof of your RV and measure the darned thing. You currently are either "critically misinformed" about the height of your RV or if you do tow it, you're illegal in your state.
Oh, and you might want to change your signature. Your profile indicates that you have a 2005 Chevrolet 2500 and you stated you have a 2005 RAM 2500 4x4.

Ask if when that rv was delivered from factory were there 2 or 3 pilot cars with lights flashing ahead/behind the rv & were there "oversize load" banners on the front/rear of the rv, if not they towed it illegally all the way from the factory.
If it's by a 1 in a million chance it's actually. 14'8" tall, RUN, DONT WALK, as far from that rv as you can. Also find another dealer, if they can't correctly measure the height then I can't imagine how a repair on something serious might be handled!

V2wings,
It seems you're finding reasons to justify NOT measuring your RV. As a retired police officer, if you spent any time at all in the traffic enforcement division, you doubtlessly are well aware of the hazards associated with towing a vehicle that is too tall for the roadway.
It's time to grab your tape measure and find out for yourself just how tall your RV really is. Relying on someone else to give you information that you KNOW is suspect or incorrect is not the responsible thing to do.
This might sound "harsh" (it's intended to be realistic) but if you don't become your own "best advocate" you are subjecting yourself to much more than just "wondering if you're too tall to tow under that bridge"....

Ya just measure it. I know it can be a pain, because sometimes you lack the equipment (ladders and such) but do you really want what comes when your cruising down the road and you take out a bridge or overpass? You can ask as many times as you want here, but no amount of asking is going to absolve you of wrongdoing since its now documented you knew about a "possible" condition.
That said, I question the salesmans measuring ability. I guess anything is possible if aftermarket stuff has been added to the unit. Measure it and be done, then go camping!

Sorry for the medical issues.
Get your money back & find a rv that's of legal height, preferably not at that dealership.

I had to take my rv in today for warranty work and they had a new service guy and I asked him to remeasure the trailer the rv.He said that it couldn't be over 14' because the shop doors were 14'. He went out and moved it to a flat spot and remeasured it and it measured 13'3".
