Spare tire relocate
OK this may be a dome question however here goes, working on my 2016 XLITE RLS, wanting to get the spare off the bumper due to install of a receiver hitch. Which I did put directly to the frame. Now the question, has anyone put one of the "BAL HIDE-A-SPARE" on one of there trailers. If so how did you get around the pluming for the dump valves? Thanks for any input !

Jim, do a search with this in the search field: bal hide-a-spare
Lots of threads will come up. Not sure if they are about your trailer, but it's a start.

I had the spare mounted under the 5th from the factory. It wouldn't clear my driveway. I have a pretty sharp angle from the street up to the driveway.
I took it off and kept it in the front storage bay until I had a heavier rear bumper fabbed and I mounted the spare there.
You may never have a clearance issue, but...

Spare tire relocate.
Thanks much for your feed-back, I took mine off the back due to concerns with the bumper, & the fact that I added a receiver to the frame for adding a basket to for hauling the gen-set. I didn't want to give up couch space in the under belly storage, or to hall it in the bed of the truck. Was looking at different options to relocate it to. Needless to say not many...

I've considered having a bracket made to attach to the pin box so it could be mounted there. Since I've upgraded to better tires, I have not needed to access the spare while on the road.

Check the height before you splurge on the BAL carrier. After dragging ours on a gas station fill and a high crown very narrow road, yanked it out and now carry it chained and locked in the truck bed. It will easily fit in the 'basement' but would be a bear to work around every time we wanted something.

We don't have a Bal-Hide a Spare, but do have a factory Lippert under frame hoist. Ours is located just aft of the rear axle. I moved it back about 6” when I enclosed the belly of the 5er, sucked up tight to the belly.

I've got the underbelly enclosed belly already. So I'm looking at the bed option. Thinking of looking at an in bed mount for it. Thanks for all the input!

I think I would try to fit it in front of the 5th hitch, as near the truck cab as possible. Any weight you can move forward of the truck rear axle is a win.

Spare tire relocate.
Agreed, What I have done is taken the spare tire mount that I removed from the back and modified it to fit into the truck bed ahead of the 5th wheel hitch. This did take some cuttin & welding of new metal so I could secure it to the truck bed, this I feel is the best resolve to my issue as will as being able to lock it into the bed. I have the XLite model so my nose of the unit does not stick deep into the bed giving me a clearance issue when turning. Thanks to all !

If you think your frame mounted receiver is strong enough you might get one of the double hitch extenders...one on top of the other. Use the top one for a spare carrier and the bottom one for whatever.

Spare tire relocate.
I did consider that, and I have no doubt about my receiver & the install. I just didn't like all that crud hanging off the back end of the unit. I wish I knew how to upload a picture on this " Chromebook" but I will work on it more this evening. Thanks for the ideas !
