2014 2500HD Silverado W/Brake Controller

Who has a built in brake controller, and how does it work?

I have a 2016 Ram 2500 w/CTD. The built in brake controller works great. You just have to set it up correctly.

I set mine up on a gravel road. Before you take off set your controller for about 8. Then establish a speed of about 20-25 MPH and use the brake controller only to stop the rig. If the tires lock up and skid you have too much gain. It took me about 3 tries to get it right.

2013 Ram 1500 Bighorn 5.7. Easy Peasy. Just follow simple instructions in owners manual. Good luck. Enjoy camping.

2013 Silverado 2500 HD (diesel)-built in brake controller works great, was a must have for vehicle purchase.

I have more confidence in the factory design/install than an "universal" fits all aftermarket controller installed by my neighborhood hitch store.

Have had the built in controller on 2 different silverados, just keep bumping up the setting until you feel a slight drag from the trailer when you press the brake pedal. At least that's how I set it up. I like the trailer brakes to engage just slightly more than the truck brakes, that prevents heating the brakes on the truck and warping a disc.

I have it on a 2013 2500 Silverado works great. U can see the info like your setting and break output on the screen where the DIC is (odometer) by cycling thru options. Mine comes up automatic in the DIC when the trailer is hooked up. Works like any break controller. +\- to up or lower the setting and the slider tests/applies the breaks. I was always told to go 15mph and hit the break application slider. You want it set just slightly lower than your trailer wheels locking up at that speed. I usually find where it will lock them up at 15 and then go down a setting
