Large Black Carpenter Ants
Friends just bought a used 2000 Golden Falcon 5er. Its in very good shape for the year and considering that it has been hauled less than 1000 miles in all the years. Its spent its time parked in a trailer park and used as a summer cottage. And that may well be why the critters are showing up, the unit sitting in one place for a long time.
The new owners joined us for a weekend trip over the last 3 days and found that there were carpenter ants thoughout the unit, but mainly around the entertainment centre midships (trailer is a rear kitchen with one slide). Two small roof patches have been made over the years, and all sealing on the roof appears in good shape. There are no visible leaks from the inside anywhere.
So .... what strategy to use to locate the critters' nest, and what to use to eradicate them, short of a carelessly laid match?
