While slowing down now get the truck you will need for the camper you want when the kids are gone and retirement comes. You will have the truck paid for when sticker shock on new campers a viewed. One payment is easier than 2.

I've got a little while before I would get back into camping (I'm younger). When I sell this camper, I doubt I would get another camper until my son is out of the house (roughly 11 years).
We have friends who bought a camper to take to their daughter's softball games. The could relax in between games. That thought came to mind, but size might be an issue for parking.

They take their camper to the softball fields. I know I couldn't take mine to the baseball fields by my house (TT is 32').

These stories are so familiar to me. Many memorable camping trips with the kids and then they got busy, sports, jobs, summer school, etc. Parked the camper and taxied the kids for 15 years. Sold the camper to help pay for college as we weren't using it anymore. Kids move away and have kids. We retire and buy a 5th wheel and now we travel to visit the kids and grandkids. Often reminisce about all those camping trips and the fun we all had. DW and I are still having the fun, just at a different level.
Life contains a lot of things and a lot of changes along the way, but it has been good and continues to be.
Oh, and btw, I believe this life is a rehearsal for something else.

I watched my parents always make sure that we at least got to have one or two week vacations together for a long time. We did not have a lot of money but we went every year. When we got to be 15 - 16 we had the option of going with them, or staying home. Right as my father was going to retire he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was gone in 3 months. He did not squander and save till retirement but he never got to do what they planned.
So with that in mind, I always make sure that we have gone on a vacation (mostly camping) every year. The 2 night stays where always fun because they were usually impromptu. We would pick the kids up from school with the TT and took off. Just a short getaway can change an attitude.

I just booked a 3 day trip to Garner SP at the end of September (got a break in my son's baseball schedule). It's one of the best State Parks in Texas (IMHO).

I've heard Garner is awesome! It's on our list of destinations.
