Fan runs continously
Hi, we have a 2016 Cougar 28RKS. When we use the furnace or the air conditioner the fan does not kick out. For running both the furnace and the air conditioner the fan is on auto. The air conditioner also will not cool down the trailer more than 4 degrees. Has anyone else had this issue and know what we need to do to fix it? Closest dealer is 5 hours away.

If you feel there is a problem with the AC forget the dealer. Call the manufacturer for a list of authorized service people. A mobile tech on that list may be your best bet

What fan are you referring to? The AC and furnace have separate fans.

Thank you, but I live in Northwestern Ontario Canada and there is no such thing as a mobile tech. Would be nice though.

Sounds like a thermostat problem to me.

If you turn the thermostat completely off do they still run or do both stop then come on when the thermostat is set again?

When we shut the thermostat off they quit, but when we turn them on with fan on auto for furnace or air the fan does not kick out.

which thermostat do you have, I had this problem and it was because I had the wrong setting on the thermostat.

Could be a wiring issue with the thermostat causing it to run all of the time. Or it may be a "set up" problem
Found this:

yup that's the same as mine, if you have it in the wrong mode the fans will run all the time. I usually have to play with it for a while every spring to remember which mode it has to be in. you have to go to fan and have it set to off i believe then go to your heat and put it on. I will look in the next day or two and see what my setting are on mine right now.

ok so I just went out and checked mine, put it into fan mode, make sure that is set to "auto" then go to your heat or cool and set the temp.
if you fan is set on low or high it will run continuously in every mode.
if you have it in auto and it still runs all the time then you do have a problem somewhere.

Generally this problem is caused when the fan is set to low or high. It must be set to AUTO or it will run as soon as the air or furnace is turned on.

I have a 2015 248RKS and I had same problem, but then found out my fan was NOT set on Auto. Now it IS set on Auto and the fan will kick off (ac and furnace) when the temp is reached. I saw the pic of your thermostat and it looks to be the same one.

I had a similar problem. The thermostat stopped working correctly. This is a common problem for this thermostat. The dealer checked the system and replaced it with the new model Dometic capacitive touch thermostat it comes with new controller and it works great.

Thank you everyone. Our fan IS on Auto for both the furnace on the AC. Dealership saying may need new AC, but how does that affect the furnace fan? I may just get them to send a new thermostat and see if that is the problem. If that doesn’t work then we will drive the 4 hours to dealer. If I ever find out the cause I will post it.

Ok, had the camper to dealer and when they checked it everything ran as it was supposed to. Fan kicked in and out as it should. Long story short, it was because we were plugged into less than 30amp service. Rewired garage with 30amp breaker, 10 gauge wire, and 30 amp plug-in and voila everything works fine.

I could see it not working properly on AC like that but furnace should have worked normal. Maybe they did something you didn't see when it was in there?

You could be very right, but as long as A/C works I am happy. If furnace fan runs continuously at least it still heats the trailer.
