Ram 3500 Cougar 367fls

Hi Guys,

We are deciding to purchase a 2018 Cougar 367fls. My truck is Ram a 2017 3500 4x4 SWR Mega Cab. I am slightly concerned about the bed rail height being at 59 inches and the fiver being too nose high. Does anyone else have this truck with the high bed rails pulling the 367fls or similar rig. Looking at options.

Thanks

Fish, most of the HD trucks in the last five or six years are close to the figure you mention. Our Ford is right at that and hasn't been a problem. I don't see you having any problem, either.

Just picked up our 39’ Sprinter Limited 3530FWDEN today. I was concerned as well cause my bed is at 59.5”. The Sprinter fit perfectly though. I’m “slightly” nose high but not near enough to be concerned. What I was very impressed about was the lack of sag on the F250. Only dropped 3/4”.

Thanks - I am trying to see if I need a slider or not. I can get a 83 degree turning radius with my truck and trailer before hitting the truck post.

Hi Rig - looks pretty close to level. Are you using a slider hitch. I have some telling me that with the nose cone of the keystone I really don't need a slider. I am told I can get a 83 degree turning radius without a slider.

Hey thanks! I actually had a slider installed. Also got the run of the mill Reese 16k manual slider. I got the slider just as precaution and to give the DW some piece of mind.

We really like this floor plan over many others. We pick the 367fls up on 6/23, family is very excited.

I think you will have to run the numbers and see what the weight is.

I pull my 40' 368MBI with a GMC Denali 2500 Duramax short bed. Not an issue or any nerves at all. I added the Firestone Air Bags to the rear of the truck and it pulls like a dream.

Smart Move getting the slider. You might never use it, but if the time comes when you need it you will be glad you got it. Been there done that. I've been in some pretty tight spot especially backing into a tight camping spot. Better to be safe than sorry. I know, years ago I damaged a truck and the cap on a fiver. I wish I would have had a slider then.

Highly recommend auto slider hitch

Although we have the DW short bed and our trailer is a bit longer.... we have had no problems with ours. I highly recommend the demco auto slider hitch, or a slider hitch in general. It makes life so much easier! But be sure it is a free slider, there are some that you have to manually get out and unlock before you turn... ain’t nobody got time for that!
Best of luck on your new camper!!!

Just for safety sake, I would recommend a slider hitch based on the truck you have and the shorter bed that your truck has. I have the pull right super-glide hitch. It automatically will slide and pull the camper away from the cab of the truck on turns. We absolutely love it and this is our fourth Summer with the camper and that hitch. We pull an impact 311 with a Chevrolet Duramax 3500 s r w.
