Best route through Nashville, Tn.

In mid January we will be south bound on I24 going into Nashville and I65 south bound going out of Nashville. Would we be better off to stay on I65 through Nashville or take one of the bypass loops around the city? If our trip goes according to plan we should be going through Nashville around noon. Any advice from anyone familiar with the route would be great. Thanks

I’ve lived 30 miles north of Nashville my entire life. You’ll be ok taking 24 to 65. Especially around midday. If possible try to avoid the morning rush, 7-10 a.m.,that’s when congestion is at its worst. Safe travels to you!

That River Duck, he's sharp, sharp, sharp. I've lived east of Memphis for almost 50 years. With in-laws living in Maryland there is no telling the trips we have made through Nashville. Follow Duck's advice . It is spot-on.

We made the trip through Nashville pulling our Cougar AND the slingshot (triple towing) in mid October. Stayed on 65 with no problems. We hit Nashville about 11AM and encountered no significant issues with traffic. Of course, all it would take is one "minor accident" to make any highway a "traffic nightmare" so things can change based on current conditions with only a moment's notice.

We travel north to south on I75 several times a year and no two trips are the same. Like previously stated construction and accidents can change travel conditions in a instant.

What kind of technology do you travel with? I have an excellent "Navigator" (DW) that keeps up with travel conditions via the connected GPS with travel alerts and comparing with Google maps on the smart phone. Yesterday we had two unexpected incidents, the first one coming down the hill into Knoxville a minor accident that brought all three lanes to a standstill and the second in the dark and rain north of Valdosta a barely lit truck and horse trailer traveling about 30mph. Stay safe out there.
