How did you find that the Passport roof is "non-walkable"? I'm almost afraid to ask......

Me too!

I was already planning on having the dealer install a Maxx Air vent cover on the center vent, but feel even better now!

I would say the roof on my 2013 Passport 23RB is not walkable either. The first time I tried there was way to much deflection and bad sounds when I stepped on. I now have to drag up a piece of plywood to sit on when I do any work like adding vent covers or exhaust fans.

Just picked up our new passport elite 33bh Saturday. During the PDI the tech did say that not to walk on roof. I also had 2 vent covers installed. They said they bridged the roof with a catwalk to install.

Found out almost the hard way

I got on the roof and heard a crack, my left foot was on a truss so I took my weight off my right foot. I did not go through the roof or the membrane. There was no indication that this was a non walkable roof. But they used thin luan compared to my previous trailer (HTT) that I could walk on. You would think that with all the stickers and warnings that they put on rvs they would include one for the roof. Maybe even mention it in the owners manual.

Keystone will warranty it down the road if the crack causes any problems with the membrane.

Huh. During our walk-thru they specifically said we could walk on it, and they do to clear snow off. I've waked on ours, but still feel its better to crawl and spread my 200lbs out; better safe than sorry.
I never heard a creak while installing our vent covers.

I've never owned a Passport so can't comment on it. But quite awhile ago I asked about installing a ladder on a Trail Sport. I was told by the dealer that if a ladder isn't on it, and it isn't an option, then don't walk of the roof. Sounds like that may apply here....

Yes it does but unless someone had told you, would you have known that?

Total bull! ex: The outback Terrain specs say "3/8” Fully Walkable Wood Decking" and they do not have ladders.

I never heard a creak while installing our vent covers.

Same with me. Tech said no problem. I've walked on it several times. I installed two max air vents, and have cleaned branches and leaves off ours. It does give some, and I have heard a few creaks and whatnot. I plan on using plywood next time, bur I will do it again.

Plywood or OSB can scrape the rubber roof membrane if you happen to twist or scoot the wood across the roof. You might want to consider gluing a piece of old carpet to the bottom and around the sides of the wood. That way it will be cushioned and not risk damage to the roof.

OK, maybe it's me because I run EMS for our local fire dept, but a piece of plywood, and especially a piece with carpet glued to the bottom, doesn't seem like a good idea. It seems like it would be very easy to slide right off of the roof to the ground below.

I bought a sheet of 2" hard foam insulation(blue stuff from lowes). Cut them in 2'x2' pieces. I toss them up on roof, easy to move around. I just move from piece to piece, don't have to worry about sharp edges.
