Took the Box to the shop to get the genset worked on. They told me it was a bad gasket, and it was fixed. I got it home and it started, carried a load, everything is good, right? Wrong.
Got to the dragstrip, and it was hard starting, and it wouldn't carry a load. The breaker for the AC kept tripping. After messing with it, I found that the breaker for the AC was bad, and switched it to the 2d AC breaker which was not in use. But the genset still wouldn't carry the load and stalled.
Messing with the genset, I found the governor was stuck and the throttle wouldn't throttle.
I had other things to do, so I sent the wife to Sears and bought a generator.
When I got home monday, I pulled the carb off and it was gummed up. BAD. It was not the same carb that was on the genset that I sent to the shop. I cleaned the carb, got the throttle and governor working, and everything is fine. Works great!
I called the shop and pointed out that they lied to me. I was not at all against putting a used carb on the genset, but they should have finished the job and cleaned it. I did get a good carb for $142, but it gave me fits until it was straightend out, and it cost me $500 for a generator. (I needed a spare anyway) They were apologetic, yada yada yada.
