My recent mods

all winter I was thinking about what to do with the bikes, reading several threads the rear of the Laredo WAS NOT an option. Came across the idea to put it on the front hitch ( I have 8 foot box). Over the winter I envisioned how I wanted it, and yesterday welded it up. I bought the under bumper hitch from Menards, a local lumber store ($19.00) and then looked for a bike rack and they had the one in the pictures ($39.00). Looked around and I had the iron, ironically the plate was the exact size I needed, no cutting required. Few hours welding and painting and mounting and now I have the bike problem solved.

2nd mod, friend had just discontinued his Directv service (which I have), He was pissed as they left the dish and took everything else. Got to thinking and told him I had a home for it, and a few dollars of PVC and I had a mount. Leveled it in the grass and 10 minutes later I had Directv in the camper, with the extra receiver from the basement living room. Never thought it would be so easy!

Last I threw in a picture of my storage shed I keep it in, I AM NOT a believer of leaving it sit outside all winter and summer unless we are camping, the weather is just too hard on things!

First I have ever seen with that type of a setup. Seems like a solid idea.

Yes, that is a great storage facility. Oh, doesn't the rack get close to the cab of your truck on turns?

I have 4 foot of clearance as the truck is long bed. Rack is only about 3 foot and as you turn it gets farther away.

I had the same setup on my fiver when fulltiming and it was great. As I got older (I'm now 73) I could no longer lift the bikes off the rack from the ground so just backed up the pickup to barely under the bike rack, got in the pickup, removed the bikes and handed them to my wife. Worked like a charm. If we wanted to bike somewhere near by the cg, just took the bike rack off the fiver, popped it into the receiver on the back of the truck, and away we went.

I do envy your shed. We didn't have that, and don't have it now that we are back to a pull trailer.
