2810BH Heater vent bug cover?

Looking for the correct cover to keep bugs out of my Atwood heater vent. I can't manage to find any that seem to be the right size. It measures 4.75" x 6.5". Here's a picture. Does anyone have a suggestion?

I don't have the answer, but I need to get covers also. Did you get the water heater cover?

2810BH Heater vent bug cover?

I do have a water heater cover. I brought it over from my previous TT. That one was pretty easy to find on Amazon. Camco 42145 model WH 500.

I put covers on mine, but it was funny when my dealer recommended them, I asked if they have problems on the lot since they have over 100 with no screens. He told me in over 10 years they haven't had a single instance of an insect nest in one of the vents. It's cheap insurance, so I bought them. I just thought his response was interesting.

I have never used screens on any of my campers and although I have constant problems with wasps/hornets building nests in my shed, boat trailer, house gutters etc., I have never found one in any of my campers or inside my boat.

I had a mud dabber get caught in my water heater area by the screen. It got I'm but couldn't get out. Have a friend that had a problem with stink bugs in his heater vent. So many it wouldn't start. Had to take it all apart to clean it out. I'll shoot a picture when I can get over to storage.

Cool thanks want to see how it looks installed, does it touch the fiberglass or just the metal? I would worry about the rubbing if it touched the fiberglass. Having just changed a door lock I can 100% confirm the fiberglass is paper thin.

The water heater vent only hits the metal. I'm still looking for a cover that will work for the heater. If I have to use one that sits on the fiberglass I'll add a bead of high temp gasket RTV and let it dry before I attach it. The RTV will act as a bumper to keep the metal frame from rubbing the fiberglass.

Does your heater look like the one in my picture? Which cover did you buy? Does it sit on the fiberglass or just on the heater vent? Thanks.

Have you thought about using some rubber trim around a bigger screen?

I dont have the answer but I wonder if you could buy something like this, oversized. Cut to fit, back your 4 screws out and reinstall with washers maybe even 2 sets of washers to sandwhich the screen.

Have a screen like this on my water heater door, it does leave rub marks. Also have the sreens for the fridge vents, they just zip tie in.

Thanks. The idea of cutting the one to fit might work. Right now I'm leaning toward getting a bigger one and using a gasket of some sort.
