We made the trip back one december in a Durango pulling one of the bigger u-haul trailers after I graduated from college. We had decent conditions the whole way back, but it wasn't one of the weird snow/rain/ice years...
In regards to pulling in AK, I've already seen a lot of toy haulers out for both Arctic Man and the quest/iditarod. I did notice that not a single person was pulling one with out a dually. The roads have cleared up quite a bit in the last few weeks. We pulled my outback into the shop for it's inspection (and had to replace both axels
) in late Feb without too many issues. We used my dad's dually instead of my truck just for the stability. He's been pulling his montana around a little bit (inspection/repairs) without too many problems.
I know I would be one of the ones pulling over to wait it out if we ran into an ice/snow storm... Good thing I just got the heater fixed!
Thanks,
Doug
