Grease on 5th wheel mount

I'm new to RV's and 5th wheelers, so I may be using the wrong names for parts.

I need to know whether the part on the truck where the pin attaches needs to be greased if we use one of those white discs.

I would like to do away with the grease since I am up in the truck bed a lot and it gets all over me. Is the disc (disk?) without grease OK?

Thanks!

I'd recommend using the white disc. This insert will provide sufficient "lubrication" without having to mess with putting grease on anything where the pin box meets the hitch plate. You should, however, apply grease to the moving parts of the hitch itself - the jaws/bar, etc.

I use the uhmw plate and the only grease I use is around the king pin and inside the jaws where metal to metal is. Enjoy the new 5ver. Happy Campin............Ron

Times 3.. This is my first 5th wheel, at the start I just greased everything but gets messy. Seemed like I always accidentally touched the pin or got grease on my shirt. Bought a nylon plate for 10 bucks and just grease up the moving parts now. Cheap investment, wear is minimal should last several years but cheap to replace..

I grease the actual pin + whatever is shiny from metal to metal contact in the hitch, and all the moving parts on the hitch. I also use the slip plate (the white disk).

DISk

Yup, use the white disk, look for your grease points and give a squirt to the clamp. Much cleaner than grease all over the place.
