East Coast vs West Coast Fifth Wheel Models???

Why are there lighter models for the West Coast than the East Coast? There are several models I like, but cannot get unless I live on the West Coast. The Cougar brand is a good example. There are three small versions ( 244RLSWE, 276RLSWE, 278RKSWE) for the West coast, but only one (276RLS) with similar lengths and weights for the East coast.

East coast Vs West coast

If anyone knows the reason for these differences I would like to know also.

I have a318SAB (east coast) and it is my understanding that the West coast model has differences but I have never been able to figure out just what the differences are.

Anybody know?

John

In the Springdale line, the biggest difference is in the fresh water tank size (from what I've been able to compare between the brochures). Otherwise, there may be some differences in tire brand, paneling, etc, but no significant differences. The weights in the Springdale are very close, so there can't be too much difference. I also believe they stopped producing fifth wheels on the west coast in 2012.

I contacted a local dealer in Louisiana and he says the West Coast models can be ordered by them. The 244RLSWE is the model I am the most interested in.

My dealer contacted me back and he cannot get the West Coast models. I do not want to buy something several states away from home for any warranty issues.
