Battery boxes??

Guess it’s my day for stupid guestions, but here goes.

I went to put on the two battery boxes and hook them up to the venting. (They weren’t attached when I got the trailer.) But when I went to put the tops on, I found that they don’t exactly fit what with all the cables on them. Are these just made for when the batteries aren’t connected? Because I don’t see how to get the top of the battery boxes secured to the bottom when the cable prevent the top from mating up with the bottom. If you have any pics that’d be fantastic.

Thanks.

The top will have a "lip" that allows for a small gap between the box and the top. Just kinda bend the cables over the edge of the box in that area and pull them down. Then just push the top on and secure it.

Once you bend the cables into place, they will conform each time you want to take the top off and remove/re-install the batteries.

Rat tail file will customize that bottom half of the box.

There are several different models of the vented battery boxes, but all that I've seen have a "molded lip" for the battery cables to exit the box. There are a "bazillion" bolts and nuts to secure the top to the bottom and most people, after the first time of doing a weekly water level check, learn to ignore putting the bolts back in and just run a strap around the box to hold the lid in place.

This photo is one I found that "sort of shows the cable exit point on the far edge of the end.
