Hatch door repair

Hello Again All,
Inspecting the rig after these (finally!) heavy NorCal rains, I noticed that my hatch doors are spongy inside around all the lock holes and the locks wont tighten due to to the panel compressing, allowing even more water to intrude in a vicious cycle.
It looks as though the hatch door frame is riveted together once wrapped around the panel. I'm thinking I can drill the rivets and open the frame up enough to remove the panel. Then remove the panel from the filon skin and replace it with maybe harder blue foam and formica or something tough.
Have any of you ever rebuilt a hatch door? Not looking forward to the huge outdoor kitchen hatch door issues...
Thanks for any tips or links you may have!

I haven't had water penetration into the hatch doors themselves, but before I overthought it, I'd drill a couple small holes in the door bottoms to let the water out. As a temp measure, try some weatherproof tape to cover all exterior seams. Once everything has had a chance to dry out, I'd probably try some 3M Silicon calk to reseal all seams.

Depending on how bad the damage is , this may not be the perfect repair, but it gives you time (hopefully) to re-evaluate the situation, and find a better cure.

Keep us advised...

Good Luck,

Thanks Pull Toy,
I'm in the "No Silicone Ever" camp when it comes to RVs. There are just better products out there that stick better and last longer, in my experience. I've got some Sika (If I recall 505UV) polyurethane left from the roof edge reseal that I'll use once I get them repaired.
There are some holes drilled at the bottom of the doors. I'll drill more directly below each lock. Thanks for reminding me of that. Once I have a good bearing surface for the locks to grip I can get those sealed up better as well.
The door seems easy enough to get apart but it will likely be spring until I can get to it. I'll just put some tape over the locks for now.
