Thanks both. I alerted the HW that batteries will most likely need replacing.

It is charged enough to level and get the slides out.

The vinyl patch looks really good. I’m shocked. I’ll get pics when it gets daylight.

I’ll be honest, the fridge battery in the front, it seems to me to just be tied in with the rest? I’m going to look over how it’s set up, but I think the positive just goes to the breaker that the other battery positives go to. I’ll take pics of it as well.

Thanks again guys for your input. Just very happy to have it back.

Mine has the batteries in parallel. I’ve had them be dead when I picked it up from the dealer after service too. They brought out a jumper box and juiced it up enough to get the jacks up. Since then the batteries seem to be ok. I need to install a true battery shut off that will stop all the parasitic drains too.

I’d have to wire in a battery isolator between the main and fridge batteries. That way the fridge won’t draw off the main and visa versa. Can’t believe Keystone wired it like that. Then again that may have been done at dealership.

So went out to check battery wiring. It was as expected.

It looks like everything is wired together. You can see the two batteries in parallel. Then you can see the lead coming out of the front battery box coming into a post breaker, that is jumped to the post breaker for the other batteries.

then you see another lead coming out of box into switch and up to 30 amp breaker and into the inverter. But low and behold.....

I doubt it. Gen prep is usually the remote harness, box, junction box for AC power to coach. Granted the pics aren’t an Alpine, but I happen to be putting in an Onan 5500W LP gen today

Perfect, one question down. Looks like that box has batteries in it

I’ll venture a guess and say that red wire is most likely for a solar panel installation. On the outside passenger side if there is a small black receptacle with a hinged cover then the red wire that’s not hooked up should start from there

It’s not connected at battery during factory installation

And what happened to the battery for the inverter for your residential fridge ?

I’d rewire and put in a battery isolator between the two.

Yeah, there were never any batteries in there evidently. I'll have to get some, and I'll Look up isolators and see what all I need.

Thanks much!

One group 27 battery for residential fridge would serve you well unless you boon dock a lot.

The isolator will keep the inverter from drawing DC power from your main house batteries located in passenger side battery door.

Several brands, etc out there. Some research would help you make choice on how to rewire yours ... if so desired

I thought they shipped them without the batteries. If that’s the case the dealers have been installing them in parallel.

When mine arrived at dealership it had no batteries. They were installed by dealer.

In my opinion any dealership that would run the inverter off the house batteries like that is lazy and cheap.

It should have been prepped with two group 27 batteries in battery compartment and one group 27 in front compartment for inverter.

It should have also been wired with a battery isolator. They don’t cost that much and would be proper way to prep it.

Some dealerships go the extra mile and offer good prep work. Whomever wired this one was lazy and cheap.

A top of the line.... “so it’s advertised” fifth wheel sold at premium price should command top of the line work from start to finish.. including dealership prep.

Hope he gets it all worked out and hope the initial repairs accomplished were done correctly.

The battery stuff is nit noy ... per say

Dealerships will only install batteries, not isolation switches. If it didn’t come from the factory with one, it’s considered an “accessory”. Then there’s the labor to install.

It should have been done at the factory.

Ok... I stirred the pot.

Things were done ok, some good some not. The vinyl patch exceeded my expectations, as did the repairs on the rams and replacements of all the under belly.

The Brake Line reroute is a joke. I will be looking for ways to "fix" it. They basically unscrewed the plastic sheet and ran the wire under the frame and screwed the plastic back up. Yeah it works, but theirs got to be a better way, and I find it.The new brake wires are not pin in, they can dangle and get caught on something. I already didn't like the splice box and wanted to do something more weather tight.

OK I need some education I guess. If you isolate the Ref/inverter batteries from the house batteries how are they going to get charged when connected to shore power? Or am I misunderstanding what y'all are meaning by isolating them?

If I’m understanding the tech correctly, amps flow a d charge both batteries, but when the voltage drops to around 12, it shuts off isolates one battery so it won’t draw the primary down. Used a lot in off road so your battery that is used for off-road lights won’t ever draw Down your starting battery and leave you stranded. Check them out on Amazon

Makes sense, thanks for the explanation.

Yup most dealerships dont install isolation switch on multiple batteries with inverter. But they should. Or at least factory. Someone .... either Keystone or dealership knows full well how it should be done.

But most have gotten cheap. I’ve seen several large fifth wheels with only 1 battery. Not near enough for hyd slides and LG or electric slides and LG.

Then toss in a residential fridge and inverter and run off just 2 24 group batteries. Cheap...

I have 2 group 24 house batteries and 2 group 27 batteries connected to the fridge inverter. Thought I had a pretty good setup but y'all have given me something else to think about installing. Never ends does it?
